The rise and development of social media in our age has a strategic importance in all businesses, including SMEs. In the recent years, thanks to the fact that advertising, marketing and marketing are carried out on social media, SMEs made benefits such as eliminating time and geographic limits and reducing the costs. In order to examine the purposes of the SMEs for using social media in Erzurum province and to have an idea about its advantages, a face-to-face survey methodology was carried out with a total of 287 SME officials and employees in 2015 within the scope of this study. As a result of the research, it was determined that SMEs have information about the use of social media, but they do not use the marketing, advertising and promotion aspects of it sufficiently in their businesses.
