Successful Experiences of Virtual Enterprises in Social E-Commerce: The Cases of Facebook–Instagram and Amazon

Öz

This study clarifies the fundamental distinctions between traditional e-commerce, social media marketing, and social e-commerce, establishing a conceptual framework that explains their convergence and divergence in theory and practice. It examines international experiences where social e-commerce has been successfully implemented, highlighting Facebook and Amazon as representative models of virtual enterprises operating in this domain. Using a descriptive–analytical methodology, data were collected from books, academic articles, reports, websites, electronic platforms, and personal observations. The findings indicate that social e-commerce represents an advanced form of e-commerce that enhances transactions through social interaction, trust building, and user engagement. Virtual enterprises within this environment create global markets unconstrained by time and place, while promoting digital awareness and adaptation to rapid technological change. The results demonstrate that social e-commerce strengthens national economies by encouraging diversification, improving market efficiency, and supporting sustainable development. The study concludes that it offers a practical model for developing countries, particularly Algeria, to advance digital commerce.
