Examining The Structure of Disability Groups in Turkey using Multiple Correspondence Analysis

Öz

This study was purposed to examine the structures of various disability groups to generate fundamentals of projects concerning disability in Turkey. Multiple correspondence analysis was performed to the data derived from Turkey Disability Survey which was carried out in 2002 in collaboration with The State Institute of Statistics and Presidency of Administration on Disabled People. As a result of multiple correspondence analysis, the explanation ratio of the related variables for the first two dimensions was found to be 76.3%. It was observed from the related variables that type of disability and the appearance time of disability variables were weighted in the first dimension with a ratio 41.2% and sex variable was weighted in the second dimension with a ratio of 35.1%. It was found that the appearance time of disability variable is highly related to type of disability variable.
