Recent Diagnostic and Treatment Approaches in Dyslipidemia

Atherosclerosis related cardiovascular diseases are in the first place among causes of death in the world. Thirty percent of all global deaths are related to cardiovascular diseases. Dyslipidemia is one of the important known risk factors for atherosclerosis. There are many studies in the literature conducted in different age groups highlighting the relation between dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis. In the diagnosis and treatment of dyslipidemia in patient approach, it is necessary to determine lipoprotein levels, coronary artery disease and equivalent condi-tions and major risk factors of coronary artery disease other than elevated low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels. According to the risk category of the patient, in case LDL cholesterol level is higher than the target, it's important to start life style modifications and if need-ed medical treatment without delay.
