The Biology of Intrauterine Wound Healing

Cutaneous scarring may be defined as the functional and structural disturbance of the normal skin architecture as an end product of the wound healing process. The experimental studies which show that fetal wounds created heal without scar formation in certain animal models have created a rapidly growing field of surgical research regarding the biology of fetal healing and the manipulation of scar formation in adult models. In this paper, it was aimed to review the characteristics of intrauterine wound healing in order to light the way for the new investigations on this subject.

İntrauterin Yara İyileşmesinin Biyolojisi

Öz

Yara iyileşmesinin bir sonucu olan kutanöz skar oluşumu, normal deri yapısındaki fonksiyonel ve yapısal bir bozukluk olarak tanımlanabilir. Belli hayvan modellerinde fetusun ektoderminde oluşturulan yaraların skar oluşmadan iyileştiğini gösteren deneysel çalışmalar, fetal iyileşmenin biyolojisi ve erişkin modelinde skar oluşumunun manipülasyonu konusu ile ilgili hızla gelişen bir cerrahi araştırma alanı yaratmıştır. Bu konuda ki yapılacak olan yeni çalışmalara ışık tutması açısından bu makalede, intrauterin yara iyileşmesinin özelliklerinin anlatılması amaçlanmıştır.
