Öz

Vize A Tumulus, located in the Vize Municipality of Kırklareli was revealed by the excavations carried out by Arif Müfid Mansel in 1938. The tumulus distinguished by its rich grave goods is thought to belong to the last king of Thrace Rhoimetalkes III., who died in 44 AD. The finds of the Vize A Tumulus have been studied in various publications although research of the military equipment finds have not been comprehensively evaluated.
Among the tumulus finds the golden laurel leaves belonging to a diadem and the two golden rings provide information regarding the buried persons social status, whilst the masked helmet, lorica plumata mail, spatha sword along with the two spearheads present military information related to the deceased.
In the content of this work regarding the Vize A Tumulus the buried person (Rhoimetalkes III.) is evaluated in a military manner during the period when the Thracian Kingdom was a vassal of the Roman Empire and together with this evaluation, interpretations regarding the military aid which the Thracian Kingdom gave the Roman Empire are made.

Öz

Kırklareli’nin Vize İlçesi’nde bulunan Vize A Tümülüsü 1938 yılında Arif Müfid Mansel tarafından kazılarak açığa çıkarılmıştır. Zengin mezar eşyaları ile ön plana çıkan mezarın Trakya’nın MS 44 yılında ölen son kralı III. Rhoimetalkes’e ait olduğu düşünülmektedir. Vize A Tümülüsü’nün bulgularına çeşitli yayın ve araştırmalarda yer verilmiş olmasına karşın mezar eşyaları arasında bulunan askeri teçhizat üzerinde kapsamlı bir değerlendirme yapılmamıştır.
Tümülüs bulguları arasında yer alan defne yaprağı formundaki altın çelenk taneleri ve iki adet altın yüzük defnedilmiş kişinin sosyal statüsü hakkında bilgiler verirken, mezarda bulunan maskeli miğfer, lorica plumata tarzı zırh, spatha tarzı kılıç ve iki adet mızrak ucu ise kişi hakkında askeri bilgiler içermektedir.
Çalışma kapsamında Trakya Krallığı’nın Roma İmparatorluğu’nun vasalı olduğu dönem içerisinde yer alan Vize A Tümülüsü buluntuları ışığında defnedilen kişi (III. Rhoimetalkes) askeri açıdan değelendirilmektedir. Değerlendirmenin yanı sıra Trakya Krallığı’nın Roma İmparatorluğu’na sağlamış olduğu askeri destek konusunda da yorumlamalar yapılmaktadır.
