Farklı Dik Yön Yüz Gelişimine Sahip Erişkin Bireylerde Pterygomaksiller Fissür ile İlişkisini İncelenmesi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı iskeletsel anomaliye sahip bireylerde uygulanacak tedavi için sıklıkla kullanılan sefalometrik görüntülerde pterygomaksiller fissürle dik yön paterni ile ilişkisinin değerlendirilmesidir.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmamıza İstanbul Aydin Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Ortodonti Anabilim Dalı'na tedaviye başvurmuş dengeli yüz oranlarına ve iskeletsel Sınıf I olan bireyler dâhil edilmiştir. Bu kapsamda 115’i kız (20.65±1.83 yıl), 135’i erkek (20.54±1.33 yıl) olmak üzere 250 bireyin sefalometrik radyografları kullanıldı. Sekizi çizgisel, ikisi açısal olmak üzere toplam 10 ölçüm Nemoceph NemoCeph NX (Nemotech, Madrid, Spain) programı kullanılarak bilgisayar ortamında yapıldı. Yapılan retrospektif çalışmada; sefalometrik görüntüler üzerinde pterygomaksiller fissürle iskeletsel dik yön gelişimi ililşkisi ayrıntılı olarak incelendi.
Bulgular: Elde edilen veriler SPSS (22.0) paket programı ile değerlendirilmiştir. Verilere ilişkin analizler, İki değişkenli verilerin analizi için ‘Mann-Whitney U Test İstatistiği kullanılmıştır. Grupların değerlendirilmesinde One-Way ANOVA ve Tukey çoklu karşılaştırma testleri kullanılmıştır. Değişkenler Kolmogorov simirnov testine göre normal dağılım göstermediği için, iki bağımsız grubun karşılaştırılmasında kullanılan non parametrik test Mann whitney u testi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan ki-kare analiz sonucuna göre cinsiyet ile pterygomaksiller fissür değişkeni arasındaki ilişki istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmamıştır (p>0,05). Yapılan Mann whitney U test sonucuna göre molar durumuna göre hiçbir değişken istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmamıştır (p>0,05).
Sonuç: Fossa pterygo palatina anatomisinin iyi bilinmesi; yüz oranların pterygomaksiller fissür ile ilişkisi ortodonti ve radyologlar için oluşacak maloklüzyonun daha önce teşhisi ve yapılacak tedavi planlaması açısından önemlidir.

Investigation of The Relationship Between Pterygomaxillary Fissure in Adult Individuals with Different Vertical Growth Pattern of Face Development

Öz

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between pterygomaxillary fissure and cephalometric images that are frequently used for treatment of skeletal anomalies.
Background: Patients with balanced facial ratios and skeletal Class I occlusion who were admitted to the Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul Aydin University were included in the study. In this context, cephalometric radiographs of 250 individuals (115 female (20.65 ± 1.83 years) and 135 male (20.54 ± 1.33 years)) were used. A total of 10 measurements, eight linear and two angular, were made on computer using Nemoceph NemoCeph NX (Nemotech, Madrid, Spain). In the retrospective study; The relationship of skeletal vertical development with pterygomaxillary fissure on cephalometric images was examined in detail.
Results: The obtained data were evaluated using SPSS (22.0) package program. Regarding the data analysis, Mann-Whitney U Test Statistics was used for the analysis of two-variable data. One-Way ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison tests were used to evaluate the groups. Since the variables did not display normal distribution according to Kolmogorov Simirnov test, non-parametric Mann Whitney U test was utilized to compare the two independent groups. According to the chi-square analysis, the correlation between gender and fissure variable was found to be statistically insignificant (p> 0.05). According to Mann Whitney U test results, no variable was found to be statistically significant based on the molar status (p> 0.05).
Conclusion: A thorough knowledge of the fossa pterygo palatina anatomy as well as the relationship between facial proportions and pterygomaxillary fissure are crucial for orthodontics and radiologists with regard to early diagnosis and the treatment planning.
