Fukoksantinin Sağlık Üzerindeki Etkileri

Öz

Fukoksantin, yenilebilir kahverengi alglerde bol miktarda bulunan bir ksantofildir. Biyolojik etkilerini ortaya çıkaran eşsiz bir kimyasal yapıya sahiptir. Bu kimyasal yapı antienflamatuar etki ve güçlü bir antioksidan kapasite verir. Bu molekülün popülaritesinin artması, çoğunlukla fare çalışmaları ile tespit edilen antiobezite etkisinden kaynaklanmaktadır. Çalışmalar fukoksantinin kanser, obezite, diabetes mellitus ve karaciğer hastalığı gibi kronik hastalıkların önlenmesinin yanı sıra cilt koruyucu, antianjiyojenik, serebrovasküler koruyucu, kemik koruyucu, oküler koruyucu ve antimalaryal etkileri gibi sağlık açısından potansiyel faydaları olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu önemli rollerin ötesinde, hayvan çalışmaları fukoksantin takviyesinin olumsuz bir etkisi olmadığını göstermiştir. Bununla birlikte, insanlarda fukoksantin tüketiminin güvenliliği konusundaki araştırmalar eksiktir. Bu derlemenin amacı, fukoksantinin insan sağlığı üzerindeki ana etkilerini açıklamaktır.
