Yıl 2009, Sayı: 1, 67 - 90, 01.02.2009

Öz

Because of the developments accompanied with the globalization the systems of companies have been affected and this fact has put pressure on managers and employees. The factor that has influenced negatively on either workers and companies, has been explained as “stress”. The main aim of this study is to determine the opinions and perceptions of travel agency employees about stress factors in the job and the workplace. Thus, the stress factors and their significance levels that create problems for both managers and employees can be determined. A multi-dimensional opinion questionnaire has been developed and has been applied to the managers and workers of 78 A group travel agencies located in İstanbul. Questionnaire has been applied 533 managers and employees and 520 of them had been taken into consideration evaluation, which can define this study as an investigation of a case study. As a result of the statistical analysis of the questionnaire, the inadequacy of free time, inflexible working hours, unregular working periods have been determined as the most important stress factors. The results of t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) show that there are differences in the workers opinions about “what is to be done” and “how is to be done” in terms of age, sex, education and so on.
