Bir köpekte primer hipoparatiroidizm kaynaklı reaktif nöbetler: olgu sunumu

Öz

Hipoparatiroidizm, köpeklerde nadir görülen bir endokrin bozukluktur ve hipokalsemiye bağlı nörolojik semptomlarla karakterizedir. Bu olgu sunumu, primer hipoparatiroidizme bağlı gelişen jeneralize tonik-klonik reaktif nöbetler gösteren bir köpekteki klinik ve laboratuvar bulgular, elektrokardiyogram ve tedavi süreci hakkında bilgi vermektedir. Fiziksel ve nörolojik muayeneye ek olarak tanı, serum paratiroid hormon ve iyonize kalsiyum düzeylerinin değerlendirilmesiyle konulmuştur. Tedavi intravenöz kalsiyum glukonat ve oral kalsiyum karbonat takviyelerinden oluşmuş, bunun sonucunda tam iyileşme sağlanmıştır. Tedavi süreci boyunca hastanın iyonize kalsiyum, serum kalsiyum, magnezyum ve fosfor düzeyleri düzenli aralıklarla izlenmiştir. Bu olgu, Türkiye’de klinik, laboratuvar ve tedavi süreci açısından ayrıntılı bilgi içeren ilk olgu sunumunu temsil etmektedir.

Reactive seizures caused by primary hypoparathyroidism in a dog: case report

Öz

Hypoparathyroidism is a rare endocrine disorder in dogs and is characterized by neurological symptoms associated with hypocalcemia. This case report provides information on the clinical and laboratory findings, electrocardiogram, and treatment process of a dog with generalized tonic-clonic reactive seizures caused by primary hypoparathyroidism. In addition to physical and neurological examination, the diagnosis was made by evaluating serum parathyroid hormone and ionized calcium levels. Treatment consisted of intravenous calcium gluconate and oral calcium carbonate and vitamin-D supplements, resulting in complete remission. The patient's ionized calcium, serum calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus levels were monitored at regular intervals during the treatment process. This case represents the first case presentation in Turkiye to include detailed clinical, laboratory, and treatment process information.
