The study aims to determine the mediating effect of leader-member exchange on the effect of proactive personality on work outcomes. In the literature, mostly the effects of a proactive personality on positive work outcomes have been examined. Employees with proactive personalities, who tend to take the initiative to influence their environment, would be affected more by negativities than employees with less proactive characteristics. In this context, the role of the leaders, the harmony of the leader and the followers, and the quality of the leader-member exchange are important factors in contributing to the effectiveness of the organization and less affecting the employees with proactive personality traits from the negativities. Within the scope of the effect of proactive personality on negative work outcomes, the intention to leave and the sub-dimensions of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment, which are sub-dimensions of burnout, are evaluated in the study. Within the scope of the research, a questionnaire is applied on 116 private security personnel working in a private security firm in Ankara with a non-probabilistic convenience sampling method. Survey results are analyzed through SPSS 24 and AMOS 24 programs. As a result of the analysis, there is a positive effect between the proactive personality and the leader-member exchange, while the negative effect of the proactive personality and the leader-member exchange on personal accomplishment is determined. However, a partial mediation effect of the leader-member exchange is found in the effect of proactive personality on the sub-dimension of reduced sense of personal accomplishment.
