THE EFFECTS OF STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCE PRACTICES ON SOCIAL PROTECTION AND EXTERNALITIES

Öz

Globalization has spurred the evolution of production processes, necessitating new markets to absorb surpluses and driving global trade beyond national boundaries. The success of contemporary and future organizations hinges significantly on effective human resource management. This study explores how companies implementing robust HR practices extend social protection to their employees, whether on a global or national scale. This study aims to explore the impact of strategic human resource practices on social protection and externalities. A qualitative research approach was adopted, utilizing semi-structured interviews as the primary method. Employees working in strategic human resource management departments of Turkish pharmaceutical companies were interviewed, and their responses were analyzed in relation to the study’s central research question. Data analysis was conducted using MAXQDA 2022. The findings indicate that social protection measures and human resource management policies within the strategic HR departments of international pharmaceutical companies fall short of adequately addressing employee demands.
