THE IMPACTS OF INDUSTRIAL CONCENTRATION ON LOCAL GROWTH IN TURKEY

Öz

The aim of this research is to examine the impact of externalities originating from industrial concentration on local growth in Turkey and six sub regions from the period 2008-2016. Specialization, sectoral diversity, local competition and urban externalities were used to represent originating from industrial concentration in the research. The relationship between these externalities and local growth was analyzed by panel data method. According to the analysis findings, specialization has a positive effect on local growth in the middle socio-economic development level regions. In addition, a negative effect of sectoral diversity on local growth was determined in the first region which is the highest socio-economic development level region. However, according to the analysis findings, local competition positively affects local growth in regions with high and low development levels.

Türkiye'de Endüstriyel Yoğunlaşmanın Yerel Büyüme Üzerine Etkileri

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı 2008-2016 döneminde Türkiye genelinde ve altı alt bölgesinde endüstriyel yoğunlaşma kaynaklı dışsallıkların yerel büyüme üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Bu araştırmanın analizinde endüstriyel yoğunlaşma kaynaklı dışsallıklar olarak uzmanlaşma, sektörel çeşitlilik, yerel rekabet ve kent dışsallıkları kullanılmıştır. Bu dışsallıklar ile yerel büyüme arasındaki ilişki panel veri yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz bulgularına göre orta düzey sosyo-ekonomik gelişmişlik düzeyindeki bölgelerde uzmanlaşma yerel büyümeyi pozitif etkilemektedir. Ayrıca analiz bulgularında sosyo-ekonomik gelişmişlik düzeyi en yüksek olan birinci bölgede sektörel çeşitliğin yerel büyüme üzerinde negatif yönlü etkisi tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte analiz bulgularına göre yerel rekabet gelişmişlik düzeyi yüksek ve düşük olan bölgelerde yerel büyümeyi pozitif yönlü etkilemektedir. Son olarak analiz bulgularında birinci bölge hariç diğer örneklemlerde kent dışsallıklarının yerel büyüme üzerinde pozitif yönlü etkisi tespit edilmiştir
