Öz

Ekolojik sanat ve şiddetsiz iletişim (NVC), ilk bakışta farklı disiplinlere ait kavramlar gibi görünse de derinlemesine incelendiğinde bu iki alanın ortak etik temeller üzerine kurulu olduğu görülmektedir. Şiddetsiz iletişim, empati, özgünlük ve karşılıklı anlayışa dayalı bir iletişim biçimi sunarken; ekolojik sanat, toplumsal farkındalık yaratmayı ve sürdürülebilir çevre politikalarının gelişmesini teşvik eden bir ifade alanıdır. Her iki yaklaşım da insanın çevresiyle olan ilişkisini dönüştürmeyi ve şiddetsiz, sorumlu bir yaşam anlayışını desteklemeyi amaçlamaktadır.
Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, şiddetsiz iletişim kuramının ekolojik sanat pratikleri üzerindeki dönüştürücü etkilerini çözümlemek ve bu iki alan arasındaki etik, duygusal ve iletişimsel ortaklıkları ortaya koymaktır. Ekolojik farkındalık üreten çağdaş sanat pratikleri, şiddetsiz iletişim kuramı bağlamında incelenmiş; bu sanat üretimlerinde empati, doğaya yönelik etik tutum ve barışçıl ifade biçimlerinin nasıl yansıtıldığı analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında, şiddetsiz iletişim ilkeleri ve bu ilkelerin sanat yoluyla nasıl temsil edilebildiği tartışılmış; sanatın sadece estetik bir üretim biçimi değil, aynı zamanda etik ve iletişimsel bir araç olabileceği savunulmuştur.
Amaçlı örneklem yöntemiyle seçilen Türkiye’den ve dünyadan ekolojik sanat yapıtları üzerinden gerçekleştirilen nitel analizde, özellikle empatiye dayalı görsel anlatım tekniklerinin, izleyiciyle şiddetsiz bir etkileşim kurma potansiyeline sahip olduğu ortaya konmuştur. Sanatın bir iletişim aracı olarak doğa ile insan arasındaki bağları yeniden kurma gücü, şiddetsiz iletişim kuramının teorik çerçevesiyle örtüşmektedir. Bu bağlamda, sanatçıların üretim süreçlerinde ve anlatılarında empatiye, ihtiyaç farkındalığına ve çatışmasız mesaj iletimine odaklanmaları, ekolojik sanatın dönüştürücü etkisini artırmaktadır.
Güncel literatürde şiddetsiz iletişim yaklaşımı çoğunlukla bireyler arası ilişkiler bağlamında ele alınmış, sanat ve özellikle ekolojik sanatla ilişkisi yeterince araştırılmamıştır. Bu eksiklik, sanatın hem estetik hem de etik bir iletişim biçimi olarak yeniden değerlendirilmesi gerekliliğini ortaya koymaktadır. Aynı zamanda sanatın etik ve iletişimsel boyutlarının yeniden değerlendirilmesine de alan açmaktadır.

REFLECTIONS OF NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION IN ART PRACTICES THAT GENERATE ECOLOGICAL AWARENESS

Öz

Ecological art and Nonviolent Communication (NVC), although they may initially appear to belong to different disciplines, share common ethical foundations when examined in depth. Nonviolent Communication offers a mode of interaction grounded in empathy, authenticity, and mutual understanding, while ecological art functions as a field of expression that promotes social awareness and encourages the development of sustainable environmental policies. Both approaches aim to transform the relationship between humans and their environment, advocating for a nonviolent and responsible mode of existence.
The main purpose of this study is to analyze the transformative influence of Nonviolent Communication theory on ecological art practices and to reveal the ethical, emotional, and communicative intersections between these two domains. Contemporary ecological art practices that generate environmental awareness have been examined through the lens of Nonviolent Communication theory, analyzing how empathy, ethical attitudes toward nature, and peaceful modes of expression are reflected in artistic production. Within this scope, the principles of Nonviolent Communication and their possible representations through art have been discussed, arguing that art should be understood not only as an aesthetic practice but also as an ethical and communicative medium.
Through qualitative analysis conducted on purposefully selected ecological artworks from both Turkey and around the world, the study demonstrates that visual narrative techniques based on empathy possess the potential to establish nonviolent forms of interaction with the viewer. The capacity of art to rebuild the connection between humans and nature as a communicative tool aligns closely with the theoretical framework of Nonviolent Communication. In this context, artists’ focus on empathy, awareness of needs, and conflict-free message transmission within their creative processes and narratives enhances the transformative potential of ecological art.
In the current literature, the Nonviolent Communication approach has predominantly been examined within the context of interpersonal relationships, and its connection with art—particularly ecological art—has remained largely unexplored. This gap highlights the necessity of reconsidering art as both an aesthetic and ethical form of communication, opening new pathways for reevaluating the moral and dialogical dimensions of artistic practice.
