Öz

Statinler hiperlipidemi tedavisinde ilk basamakta tercih edilen ilaçlardandır. Statin tedavisinin iyi bilinen bir yan etkisi olabilen rabdomiyoliz kas hücrelerinde nekroz ve hücre içeriğinin intravenöz alana salınması ile oluşan bir sendromdur. Hastalar miyalji kas güçsüzlüğü koyu renkli idrar yapma şikâyetleri ile başvururlar. İleri yaş, diyabet, hipotiroidizm, polifarmasi ve böbrek yetmezliğinin statin ilişkili rabdomiyoliz riskini arttırdığı bilinmektedir. Tedaviye başlarken hiperlipidemisi olup ek hastalıkları olan ve çoklu ilaç kullanımı olan hastalarda statinlerin ilaç etkileşimleri göz önünde bulundurulmalıdır. Bu olgu sunumunda statinin indüklediği rabdomiyoliz ve bu yan etkinin görülmesindeki olası tetikleyicilere dikkat çekmek amaçlanmıştır.

A Case of Statin-Induced Rhabdomyolysis

Öz

Statins are among the drugs of choice in the first-line treatment of hyperlipidemia. Rhabdomyolysis, which can be a well-known side effect of statin therapy, is a syndrome of muscle cell necrosis and release of cell contents into the intravenous area. Patients present with the complaints of myalgia muscle weakness and dark colored urine. It is known that advanced age, diabetes, hypothyroidism, polypharmacy and renal failure increase the risk of statin-associated rhabdomyolysis. When starting treatment, drug interactions of statins should be considered in patients with hyperlipidemia, co-morbidities and multiple drug use. In this case report, it is aimed to draw attention to statin-induced rhabdomyolysis and possible triggers for this side effect.
