General Analysis of the Floristic Structure of Iğdır Province (Türkiye)

Öz

This study evaluates the research conducted by various scholars within the borders of Iğdır Province and provides floristic data. In this context, the taxa previously recorded within the borders of Kars Province and listed in the Flora of Turkey were separated based on a literature review, and the taxa belonging to Iğdır Province were compiled and presented collectively for use by researchers. These taxa in Iğdır flora were evaluated in terms of life form, phytogeographic region and endemism. Accordingly, 1025 taxa belonging to 386 genera and 74 families were identified. The distribution of the taxa in terms of life forms are as follows: 561 Hemicryptophytes, 264 Therophytes, 77 Geophytes, 64 Chamaephytes, 52 Phanerophytes, 4 Helophytes, 1 Cryptophyte and 2 ferns. The distributions of taxa according to phytogeographical regions are as follows; Irano-Turanian 355, Euro-Siberian 88, Mediterranean 15, Eastern Mediterranean 14, and Unknown 553. The 5 richest families are respectively Asteraceae (128), Fabaceae (100), Poaceae (70), Lamiaceae (69) and Brassicaceae (62). The richest genera in terms of the number of taxa are Astragalus (42), Verbascum (16), Trifolium, Silene, and Potentilla (12 each); Allium, Bromus, Centaurea, Nepeta, Papaver, and Ranunculus (11 each).
