An insecticide spraying was conducted to control
vector arthropodes, especially sandfly and mosquitoes in Adana. The aim of the
present study was to compare the relationships between population of selected
districts, the number of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) patients and density of insecticide
spraying by using the data in a selected sites in Adana.

A bivariate correlation analysis was initially
undertaken to determine the relationship between three data groups in 103
selected areas in Adana. The statistical results were recorded in the
ARCMAP10.0 software to create comperative maps.

We found relationship between three data group (p<0.05).
In addition, we identified six high population points (Karsli, Beyazevler,
Tellidere, Ziyapasa, Gazipasa and Yesiloba), six high density insecticide
treatment points (Guzelyali, Toros, Yuzuncu Yil, Belediye Evleri, Huzurevleri
and Yesilyurt) and four high level cutaneous leishmaniasis endemic points
(Yesiloba, Bahcesehir, Mirzacelebi and Tahsilli) in Adana. Also, two selected
points (Mirzacelebi and Tahsilli) were observed with high CL risk potential in
the study areas.

Our results were used to produce the comperative maps
and the potential distribution areas of the CL with the used of geographical
technologies which allowed the identification of the CL status that may provide
useful information to guide the vector control programs.
