Intracytoplasmic sperm injection with immature sperm and its results: Case report

Abstract

A mature oocyte and a mature sperm are neededfor intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), a common method which is used in Assisted Reproductive Technologies. There are recent studies for being able to develope the best method(s) for being to help to these couples. ICSI was done with immature spermatogenetic cells in several cases in past. Howerever; fertilization and pregnancy rates were very low in these cases. This is a case report about a couple applied for infertility treatment to our center. "Elongated" spermatids were used for ICSI since mature sperm could not be found in tissue. The results are discussed in the study.

İmmatür spermlerle yapılan intrasitoplazmik sperm enjeksiyonu ve sonuçlan: Olgu sunumu

Öz

Üremeye Yardımcı Tedaviler Merkezlerinde en yaygın kullanılan yöntemlerden olan intrasitoplazmik sperm enjeksiyonu (ICSI) işlemi için olgun bir yumurtaya ve olgun bir sperm hücresine ihtiyaç vardır. Anne ve baba adaylarından her zaman gelişimini tamamlamış oosit ve spermler elde edilememektedir. Bu durumlarda çiftlere yardımcı olabilmek amacı ile yöntemler geliştirilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Çok az sayıda olguda; henüz gelişimini tamamlayamamış spermatogenetik seri hücreleri ile ICSI işlemi yapılmış ve bunlardan da az oranda fertilizasyon ve gebelik elde edilebilmiştir. Merkezimize başvuran bir çifte de; TESE dokusunda olgun spermler bulunamaması nedeni ile "elongated" spermatidlerle ICSI işlemi yapılmış ve sonuçlar bu olgu sunumunda tartışılmıştır.
