ANADOLU, Journal of Aegean Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), publishes original scientific research articles in the field of agricultural sciences twice a year (June and December) in Turkish and English since 1991.

ANADOLU, Journal of AARI is an international, double-blind peer reviewed, open-access journal, it is published twice a year in Turkish and English by the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute.

The journal invites original research papers in the field od agricultural sciences that are not published or not being considered for publication elsewhere.

ANADOLU, Journal of AARI is abstracted and/or indexed in  ULAKBİM- TUBITAK (ULAKBIM of Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) , CABI Direct, CAB Abstracts, AGRIS, EBSCO, SOBIAD, Google Scholar and available in DERGIPARK's online journal management system.

The articles published in the journal are defined witd DOI number under the sponsorship of ULAKBİM DergiPark, in accordance with the agreement with CrossRef.

Instructions to Authors of Manuscripts  for anadolu (ıssn 1300-0225) 


1.      Journal of ANADOLU aims to provide a medium of communication among scientists in the fields of agricultural science, by publishing original research articles and reviews.

2.      Journal of Aegean Agricultural Research Institute, ANADOLU is biannually issued and published by the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute (AARI).

3.      Manuscripts should not exceed 20 pages, must be typed double-spaced, all pages numbered starting from the title page and written in Turkish or English.

4.      ANADOLU encourages authors to submit their articles prepared according to publication policy of ANADOLU. Three clearly legible copies of the manuscript prepared by using MS Word copied in a CD must be submitted to the directorate of AARI. Submission of manuscripts as e-mail attachment to the AARI directorate at “anadolu.etae@gmail.com or etae@tarimorman.gov.tr” is strongly encouraged.

5.      A manuscript number will be mailed to the corresponding author within three days.

6.          Authors should declare that the manuscript is original research or review and no similar paper has been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The cover letter should include the corresponding author's full address, telephone numbers and an e-mail address. The manuscripts are not sent back to the author if it is not published.

7.      Manuscripts should be arranged as follows

The manuscript should consist of the parts of Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion (if necessary), Acknowledgement (if necessary) and References. All these headings should be written as bold capital letters.

TITLE: Should be clear, concise but informative containing key words that reflect all important aspects of the article. The title should be followed by the author (s) name (s), and address (es).

ABSTRACT: Should be complete in itself and informative without reference to text or figures, including keywords, and not exceeding 200 words. Following the abstract, about 3 to 10 keywords should be listed.

8.      The manuscript should be written in Times New Roman font. All headings should be written without indendation except heading of abstract that should be written with 1.25 cm indent. Size of headings and their styles should be written as follows: Title of manuscript should be bold and 14 size; Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion (if necessary), Acknowledgement (if necessary) and their headings 11 size; Abstract, Keywords, Tables, Graphics, Figures, Legends and References 9 size.

9.      The Title Page should include the authors' full names. Following the title and one space line, authors’ names should be written with 11 sizes and bold. First name of the authors are written miniscule and the last name capital letters.

10.    Present addresses of authors’ and e-mail of corresponding author should be written as a footnote.

11.    The page size and margins of manuscript are as follows: A4; top: 4.0 cm, bottom: 3.35 cm, right: 2.25 cm, left: 2.25 cm, header: 2.55 cm, footer: 2.35 cm. Each paragraph should start without indentation, and be aligned to both side.

12.    Species, genus, and latin names should be written in italic.

13.    References should be arranged alphabetically at the end of the paper. The author-year notation system is required; do not use numbered notation. All single-author entries precede multiple-author entries for the same first author. Use chronological order only within entries with identical authorship (alphabetizing by title for same-author, same-year entries). Add a lowercase letter a, b, c, etc. to the year to identify same-year entries for text citation. Do this also for any multiple-author entries. When there are more than two authors, only the first author‘s name should be mentioned, followed by “et al” and “year”. In the References each book should be listed by their publisher name, publication number (if available). All words of the book title and only the first word of the book parts and manuscript title should start with a capital letter. Each reference should be written with 1 cm indent except for the first line. Journal names are abbreviated according to Science & Engineering Journal Abbreviations (http://scieng.l ibrary.ubc.ca/). Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy of the references. The author-year notation system is also required in the manuscript. More than one citation are placed chronologically in order and separated by semicolon “;”.

14.    The graphics, pictures, maps etc. are named as “Figure” and the numerical values are presented as “Tables”.

15.    Tables and graphs should be created by using MS Word and MS Excel, respectively. In tables, each item should be placed into a separate cell.  Tables and graphs color must be black and white, and thickness of the borders should be ¼ pt. Abbreviations or symbols must be explained either in the title or as footnote.

16.    Tables and graphics and their legends should be submitted in separate pages. The graphics are prepared by using MS Excel and submitted as electronic forms as well. Pictures (if necessary) should be submitted GIF, TIFF or JPEG files in high resolution.

17.    In the tables, graphics and figures; the legends, first column and line of the tables and apsis (x) and ordinate (y) of the graphics should be written in English as well and placed under the legends, headings of the column and line of the tables and x and y coordinate of  the graphics written in Turkish.

18.    Numbers written in decimal notation separated with comma “,”. In order to show statistical significance at the 0.05, 0.01, and 0.001 probability levels, the *, **, and *** are always used in this order, respectively, and these cannot be used for other footnotes.  Significance at other level is designated by a supplemental note. Lack of significance is usually indicated by NS. For table footnotes, use the following symbols: , §, #, ¥, ∫.

19.    Abbreviations should be spelled out and introduced in parentheses when used at first time in the text. Standard abbreviations (such as DNA, etc.) need not be defined.  Abbreviations should be written according to Turkish Language Association (http://www.tdk.gov.tr).

20.    The Editorial Board reserves to make alterations in manuscripts submitted for publications. Such alterations will be made if manuscripts do not conform to accepted scientific standards or if they contain matters which in the opinion of the Editorial Board are unnecessarily verbose or repetitive. Where papers need extensive alteration, they will be returned to the senior author for checking, corrections and re-typing. Such papers must be returned to the Editorial Board within three weeks.

21.    The corresponding author will be informed whether the manuscripts accepted or rejected within four months.

22.    The publication of a paper in the Journal does not imply responsibility for, or agreement with, any statements or views expressed therein. All scientific responsibility pertain to the authors of the manuscript

23.    No financial grant for copyright is payable to the contributor. One free reprint of an article will be sent to the senior author. Further copies may be obtained on payment.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

All submissions to ANADOLU, Journal of AARI should be original studies. Appropriate and effective studies should be supported by scientific methods and comply with ethical rules. It is important that all stakeholders (writers, referees, editors, readers, and researchers, publishers) must comply with the standards for ethical principles.
Within the framework of the ANADOLU, Journal of Aegean Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), all stakeholders are expected to carry out the following ethical responsibilities.

Authors' Ethical Responsibilities

1. Authors should declare that the manuscript is original research or review and no similar paper has been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The cover letter should provide complete contact information (full address, telephone numbers, e-mail address and ORCID) of corresponding and co-authors. The manuscripts are not sent back to the author if it is not published.
2. ANADOLU encourages authors to prepare their articles according to publication policy of ANADOLU. Manuscript prepared by using MS Word must be submitted to the AARI directorate as e-mail attachment at anadoludergisi@tarimorman.gov.tr or etae@tarimorman.gov.tr is strongly encouraged.
3. Author (s) are required to make use of and / or quote in a complete and accurate way in order to benefit from other studies or to use other studies.
4. If all work submitted for publication is to constitute a conflict of interest, and if relevant, should be indicated.
5. The author (s) may request raw data on their framing of evaluation processes; in such a case the author (s) should be ready to submit the expected data and information to the editorial board.
6. The author (s) must have evidence that they have the necessary permissions for the use of rights of the data used research/measurement tools/analyzes.
7. The author (s) has an obligation to cooperate with the editor in informing, correcting or withdrawing the journal editor or publisher if she/he finds a mistake or error related to her/his early published or evaluation work.
8. Authors cannot have their work in the application process of more than one scientific journal at the same time. Each application can be started following the completion of the previous application. Published work in another scientific journal cannot be sent to ANADOLU.
9. Original research articles should be written in a proper way according to publication policy of ANADOLU.
10. Authors may be asked to present their raw data when needed.
11. It is not an approved way to produce more than one publication reporting on the same research.
12. Authors should clearly declare any kind of conflict of interests in their manuscripts. Absence of conflict of interests about the topic of the manuscripts should also be declared.
13. Authors should not use personally obtained information (conversations or correspondences) unless they have the permission of their sources.
14. Authors are obliged to be involved in the peer review process and should cooperate by responding raw data. Authors should respond either in positive or a negative way to revision suggestions generated by the peer review process.
15. Changes in author ordering, removal or addition of a new author in and withdrawal of a manuscript can be realized by sending an application to the journal of ANADOLU.
16. Editor or members of the editorial board are not responsible for the author opinions and manuscript contents. Authors are responsible for the ethical originality of and possible errors in their manuscripts. They are also responsible for all errors based on page editing before their proofreading.

Referees' Ethical Responsibilities

1. Peer-reviewing of a submitted manuscript is the control of its scientific content, scientific layout and suitability according to the principles of the journal.
2. The reviewing process not only enables reviewers to forward their evaluations of the manuscript to the editors but also give them the opportunity to improve the contents of the manuscripts.
3. It should evaluate within impartiality and confidentiality.
4. Assessment should be done objectively only with respect to the content of the work. Nationality, gender, religious beliefs, political beliefs and commercial concerns should not allow it to influence the evaluation.
5. The privacy policy should destroy the work that has been reviewed by the review process. Only the final versions of the studies can be used after publication.
6. If the content of the manuscript fits the expertise field or scientific career of the reviewer, then she/he should complete the evaluation and send the report to the editor as soon as possible.
7. If a reviewer assigned for evaluation of a manuscript is of expert of a field of science other than the manuscript content, then reviewer should inform the assigning editor-in-chief and ask her/his withdrawal.
8. If she/he thinks that she/he is confronted with a conflict of interest during the evaluation process, she/he should refuse to examine the work and inform the editor of the journal.
9. If a reviewer is in a situation by being involved in one or more interests with the author(s), she/he should inform the editor the assigning editor and ask her/his withdrawal.
10. Reviewers do not share any information about the manuscript with third parties continue to not to share information even after the manuscripts are accepted or rejected for publication.
11. Reviewers should construct their criticisms on a scientific background and include scientific evidences in their statements.
12. Reviewers should determine quotations in the manuscripts used without citing a reference. Statements, observations, conclusions or evidences in published articles should be quoted with the citation of the related reference.
13. Reviewers should use a polite language when making an assessment. Avoid humiliating personal interpretations of hostility, slander and insults.
14. The evaluation should be carried out on time and on the above ethical responsibility.

Editors' Ethical Responsibilities

1. All publications are judged on the basis of their intellectual content, regardless of the author's gender, race, ethnicity, religion, citizenship and political values.
2. A manuscript number will be mailed to the corresponding author within three days when the article has been processed.
3. Personal information about the articles is kept confidential.
4. The conflict of interest observed regarding the article must be explained.
5. The Editorial Board assumes the responsibility to make publishing decisions for the submitted articles, based on the evaluation of the candidate's articles, the editorial board policies of the journal, and the legally prohibited items against plagiarism and copyright infringement.
5. Editors provide peer review of submitted manuscripts by assigning at least two reviewers expert in the field.
6. Editor-in-chief is responsible in decision of publishing a manuscript considering the importance of the manuscripts for researchers and readers, plagiarism and copyright infringement as legal issues.
7. The editor-in-chief / Head of Editorial Board are the only person responsible for journal content and on-time publishing.
8. Editor-in-chief can discuss with other editors and reviewers for her/his decision.
9. Editors and members of the Editorial Board of the journal are forbidden to share submitted manuscript and its materials with third parties other than member of editorial board.
10. All editors of ANADOLU, Journal of AARI are independent in their evaluations and decisions in the journal. No external and/or internal factor can affect their decisions.
11. The editor-in-chief / Head of Editorial Board follow the strict application of ethics rules.

Actions disagreeable to publication ethics and scientific research

Plagiarism: To present the ideas, methods, data, practices, writings, forms or works of others as if it is their own work without referring to their owners.

Fiction/ Distortion: Reporting or publishing data, as if they are result of a scientific research.Falsifying research records and obtained data, showing methods, devices and materials as if they are used in the research evaluating data manipulating data and / or results to fit relevant theories or assumptions, in line with the interests of the persons and organizations whom supported the research.

Simultaneous submission: Submitting research article to journal which had been published in an another journal. Authors should declare that the manuscript is original research and no similar paper has been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

Fraud: Producing data that is not based on research, editing or modifying the submitted or published work based on unrealistic data, showing as if a research has been conducted.
Disaggregating: To present the results of a research as separate works by disrupting the integrity of the research, and making numerous publications without referring to each other.

Unfair authorship: To include people who do not have contributions to the research article not to include those who have contributions to the article, to change the order of the authors in an unjustified and inappropriate manner.

Other ethical violations: Not to clearly state the support of individuals, institutions or organizations and their contributions in the publications of researches conducted with the support, not to obey ethical rules in human and animal researches and to take part in a work that is assigned to review as a referee. to share field information with third parties before publication.
