Bio

Dr. Ali Etemadi was born in Urmia/Iran in 1983. He has degrees in Civil Engineering (I. Azad University/IRAN, B.S. 2006, M.S. 2009), and Structural Engineering (METU, Ph.D. 2015). His doctoral thesis is “Drift Spectra for Inelastic Shear Frames” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Polat Gulkan. He started to work as a research assistant at Çankaya University, Civil Engineering Department. He held assistant professor positions at Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty and at Istanbul Esenyurt University. Dr. Etemadi's work focuses on the development and use of numerical tools for managing risk due to extreme loads on the built environment. He studies risk to building systems, characterization of strong ground motions, and seismic assessments for a number of types of building and bridge structures. He participated in national scientific projects, (TÜBİTAK 1001, AFAD, and BAP Project). His current research interests include Forensic Engineering, Steel Structures Design, Seismic Rehabilitation of Existing Buildings, and Fatigue Assessment.
