Bio

Mr. Arnab Gantait is an independent researcher. He is active in tourism research since 2015. He completed his PGDM (Equivalent to MBA) in Tourism and Travel (TT) from Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Gwalior in 2014 and qualified UGC-NET in the same year. He has also worked as a Research Scholar in Pondicherry University for few years (2015-2019). Mr. Gantait has served the tourism industry for more than one year as content writer, following which he joined Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Madhya Pradesh, India in 2014 as a Project Fellow in a UGC Major Research Project. Mr. Arnab has so far published 14 research articles in both international and national journals as well as in edited books. Moreover, He has presented 16 papers in both international and national level conferences to his name since 2016. Mr. Arnab has also received the ‘Best Paper Award’ in the International Conference on Community Involvement in Tourism Development in Emerging Countries, organized by Dept. of Business Studies, Central University of Karnataka, India, held on 3rd Jan – 5th Jan, 2019 for his paper titled, “Role of Local Community in Heritage Management for Sustainable Cultural Tourism Development: A Study on Lalbagh Region, Murshidabad, West Bengal”, which has been recently cited in a study report published by Senate - The Thai Parliament. Another of his paper, titled, “Rural Tourism: Need, Scope and Challenges in Indian Context” has been recently cited in the "Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for Village Kalonda" - a report submitted to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (GoI). Mr. Gantait is passionate about the academic areas of Responsible Tourism, Rural Tourism, Pro-poor Tourism, and Community Participation in Tourism.
