Bio
Gökhan Kaya is a film director based in Izmir and Istanbul.
In 2013, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Design and Directing from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts. After graduating in 2017, he pursued a Master's degree in Film Design at the Institute of Fine Arts, also at Dokuz Eylül University. In 2020, he successfully completed his studies at the institute, defending his thesis titled Self Orientalism in Turkish Films Awarded in Europe after 2000. Currently, the director is pursuing a PhD in cinema at Ege University. In addition to his academic endeavors, Director Kaya has participated in numerous national and international festivals, where he has received awards for his five films.
His most recent film, Give Me a Lighter, is the first short film to be released worldwide on VOD platforms such as iTunes and Apple TV.
