Shakil Reja Efti is an accomplished Bangladeshi author, elocutionist, and documentary filmmaker based in Istanbul, Turkey. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Istanbul University's Faculty of Communication, with a major in Journalism. Shakil is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at Istanbul University's Institute of Social Sciences, specializing in the Journalism department.
In 2021, Shakil authored 'Osruto Ekush' (Unheard 21), an autobiographical novel written in Bangla. He is a regular contributor to various national dailies and magazines in Bangladesh and Turkey. Notably, he clinched the National Talent Hunt awards in 2015 and 2017 for Language and Literature. He received the Prime Minister’s Award and represented Bangladesh as a Youth and Education Ambassador in Thailand, Malaysia, and India.
Recipient of the prestigious Turkish Government Scholarship, Shakil continues his education at Istanbul University's Faculty of Communication. He directed the first-ever Turkish documentary about Bangabandhu and Bangladesh, titled 'Türkiye Bangabandhu’yu Anıyor’ (Turkey Remembers Bangabandhu). His portfolio also includes notable documentary films like 'Hakan’s Journey to Peace', 'Age of Terror', and 'Psychology of Immigrants'.
With extensive experience as an anchor and live interpreter in over 100 national and international events, including the renowned youth festival 'KiAnanda 2017', Shakil is a dynamic cultural advocate. He manages 'Take Me Home', a platform dedicated to archiving endangered cultural elements. Additionally, he serves as the Executive Editor of 'The Awakening', a multilingual bulletin.
