I am currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya, Malaysia. I am also registered as a Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia, and as a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK. My research is focused on four main themes: (1) Thermoelectric materials and devices, (2) Liquid crystals,
(3) Lead free solders for electronics packaging, and (4) Molecular modeling of electronic materials
There is a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research across the themes mentioned above. I currently
head a laboratory of over fifteen graduate students from the fields of Electrical and Mechanical
Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry and Physics. I have been responsible for funding of more than
RM3 million over the past five years. Since 2009, our group is the first group in Malaysia to conduct
comprehensive research in thermoelectrics, with strong international collaborations. I am also building my
expertise in molecular modeling (Molecular Mechanics and Density Functional Theory approaches) with
the aim of using rational molecular design to lead investigations in electronic materials development on the
themes mentioned above.
