Editorial Workflow

The manuscript submission process is conducted transparently through the DergiPark system. Authors are automatically notified at each stage of the evaluation and publication process via system-generated messages.

1. Submission via DergiPark

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must comply with the author guidelines, must not have been previously published, and must not be under peer review by another journal at the time of submission.

Authors are required to submit their manuscripts via DergiPark in accordance with the Manuscript Template. The full text must be uploaded in “.doc” or “.docx” format.

In addition, authors must upload:

  • the Copyright License Agreement (by selecting “Copyright Form” as the file type), and
  • if the manuscript is co-authored, the Author Contribution Statement Form (by selecting “Authorship Contribution” as the file type),

both in “.pdf” format.

2. Initial Screening

Assistant editors examine assigned manuscripts to ensure that all required files are complete and that the manuscript complies with the journal’s author guidelines. They request authors to make any necessary corrections where needed.

The Assistant Editor verifies that the submission has been properly uploaded in accordance with the submission requirements and checks for any missing documentation. If necessary, authors are asked to revise and resubmit the required materials.

At this stage, if the manuscript is deemed unsuitable for peer review, it may be returned to the author by decision of the Editorial Board.

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are forwarded to the Editor for reviewer assignment.

3. Peer Review Process

  • All manuscripts are subject to a double-blind peer review process.
  • Reviewers are selected based on the subject matter of the manuscript and must hold at least a PhD degree and have relevant publications in the field. For interdisciplinary studies, reviewers from different areas of expertise may be appointed.
  • Reviewer invitations are sent via DergiPark by email and include the manuscript abstract. Reviewers are given 7 days to accept or decline the invitation. This period may be extended once for an additional 7 days if necessary. If the invitation is not accepted or is declined, a new reviewer is assigned.
  • Reviewers are given 20 days from the date of acceptance of the invitation to complete their evaluation. This period may be extended when necessary.
  • A manuscript must receive at least two positive reviewer reports to be eligible for publication.

If reviewers recommend minor or major revisions:

  • Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in line with the reviewer comments.
  • All reviewer suggestions must be incorporated into the manuscript; if any are not addressed, a justification must be provided.
  • Authors must submit the revised manuscript within 15 days.

If necessary, an additional 10-day extension may be granted. If the revision is not submitted within the extended period, the manuscript may be returned to the author by decision of the Editorial Board.

  • Revised manuscripts are sent back to the same reviewer(s) for re-evaluation to determine whether they are suitable for publication.
  • In cases of minor revisions where re-review is not explicitly required by the reviewer, the revised manuscript may be evaluated by the editor or section editor.
  • Manuscripts that are not accepted by at least two reviewers are rejected.
  • If both reviewers recommend major revisions, the Editorial Board may decide to reject the manuscript based on the reviewers’ reports.
  • If one reviewer recommends rejection, the Editorial Board may either reject the manuscript or send it to a third reviewer, taking into account the other reviewer’s report.

4. Publication Stage

The final version of accepted manuscripts undergoes proofreading and language editing; if necessary, it is returned to the author for final revisions. The author updates the manuscript accordingly and performs final checks. The submitted version constitutes the version to be sent for typesetting.

Since typesetting is carried out externally, no further changes can be made by the author after this stage.

Once typesetting is completed, the manuscript is published via DergiPark. At this stage, a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is assigned; however, due to the system’s workflow, the DOI becomes active upon publication.

As a general rule, manuscripts that have completed the editorial process and received acceptance are published in the subsequent issue. However, the Editorial Board may decide to postpone publication to a later issue based on considerations such as the number, diversity, and topical relevance of manuscripts.

Following publication, changes to the manuscript files may be requested within 5 days. Authors may contact the managing editor for this purpose. However, corrections of formatting errors attributable to the author are subject to the discretion of the Editorial Board.
