Orhan Kemal is one of the leading figures within social realist writers in our literature. Orhan Kemal, who is a writer with many pieces under his belt, had focused to lives of normal people from real life and was able to describe people from all classes of society thank to his strong talent of observation. While hospice, helpless, forlorn, orphans and convicts have their fair share within Orhan Kemal’s stories; themes like windlasses, villagers, daily life of workers, the work environment in factories, troubles of country people in big cities, the thirst of power and money of the Capital, hierarchy of inmates within prisons are also handled in a striking way. The story of "Nurettin Şadan Bey", which stand out among the works of Orhan Kemal, is about a man who was educated in Europe and a descendant of a wealthy and noble family who is imprisoned. The writer tried to describe the class differences of the convicts and the point of view of western style educated people to society by the means of Nurettin Şadan Bey. In this paper, with the idea of European Snob Mr Nurettin Şadan Bey will be examined and class the theoretical components such as space and time identities and class conflicts will be analyzed.
