Social Responsibility of Education Faculties and the Lessons of Community Service Practices: A Qualitative Study

Abstract

Today, responsible individuals and organizations are considered important. In this sense, social responsibilities have recently been one of the most highlighted topics. The purpose of the present study is to assess community service practices lessons at faculties of education, within the scope of their social responsibilities. To this end, first the term social responsibility is explained and handled in terms of educational organizations. Then, social responsibilities of faculties of education are discussed and possible studies in community service practices lessons are assessed in this context. Finally, determine the opinions of instructors, and prospective teachers about the Lessons of Community Service Practices. Data was collected by semi-structured interview form. Descriptive analysis technique is used for data analysis. The research group consists of 20 instructor, and 39 prospective teachers. Generally, the participants said that the Lessons of Community Service Practices very useful lesson in ideally; however there are problems with implementation and planning of lesson. According to participants, Lessons of Community Service Practices to be more effective, the teacher candidates' interests must be taken into consideration.
