Aim & Scope

"Afyon Kocatepe University Journal of Academic Music Research" is aimed at being a journal where researchers, educators, composers, performers, and prospective academicians in the field of music can publish their scientific research and studies. The journal also aims to contribute to the science of music by publishing studies possessing national and international qualifications.

Afyon Kocatepe University Journal of Academic Music Research aims to contribute to the theoretical and applied knowledge accumulation of music science by publishing studies of scientific quality at the national and international levels in the field of music sciences.

Although research methods and techniques are commonly used in many scientific disciplines, the field of music develops its own unique theoretical framework, methods, and techniques, requiring studies in this field to be approached in line with a discipline-specific approach. Studies submitted to the journal are expected to observe this originality and scientific method principles.

The scope of the journal includes Turkish art music, western music, performing arts, Turkish folk music, music education, musicology, and multidisciplinary research related to music.

Afyon Kocatepe University Journal of Academic Music Research is a national peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research and review articles on music science, and also includes scientific studies conducted in fields related to music science such as education, sociology, psychology, history, and art.

The target audience of the journal consists of academicians, researchers, professionals, students, and relevant professional and academic institutions and organizations.

*A maximum of one study by the same author can be published in a single issue, and each author can submit only one article per year. If an article is accepted, the same author's article submissions will not be accepted for the subsequent three issues following the published issue, and any submitted articles will be directly rejected. The acceptance rate for articles from within the institution where the journal is published is 10% per issue.

**In articles derived from a thesis, the student must be the first author and the advisor must be the second author.

The article submission dates for the journal, which is published in January and June, are as follows:

  • For the January issue: Between July 1 and November 30.
  • For the June issue: Between February 1 and April 30.

Submissions received after these dates will not be accepted. If a sufficient number of articles are received by the journal, article submissions may be suspended before these dates.
