Career Construction Interview: A Qualitative Assessment and Career Counseling Method

Abstract

This
study examines Career Construction Interview (CCI) based on Career Construction
Theory as one of post-modern career theories. CCI is used as qualitative career
assessment tool and career counseling method in order to determine reasons and
dynamics underlined problems that bring the client to counseling. There are
enormous studies in the international literature, yet few in Turkey. Therefore,
this study aims to review main principles, evaluation and interpretation of the
CCI and draw attention to caveats. In spite of critics to the theory, the CCI
is tool that is culturally sensitive, responsive to the need of paradigm shift
in career counseling and provides subjective, meaningful and holistic
examination of the self, which contributes to self-exploration that the clients
crucially need in their career construction.

Kariyer Yapılandırma Görüşmesi: Nitel Bir Değerlendirme Aracı ve Kariyer Danışma Yöntemi

Abstract

Bu
makalede, post modern kariyer danışmanlığı yaklaşımlarından Kariyer
Yapılandırma Kuramına dayalı Kariyer Yapılandırma Görüşmesi (KYG) hakkında
bilgi verilmiştir. KYG, kişiyi kariyer danışmanlığına getiren problemlerin
altında yatan dinamikleri ortaya çıkarmada kariyer seçimlerinin altında yatan
nedenleri ve motivasyonları belirlemek üzere kullanılan nitel bir değerlendirme
aracı ve kariyer danışmanlığı yöntemidir. KYG’ye uluslararası alanyazında
sıklıkla rastlanmakla birlikte Türkiye’de konuya ilişkin çalışma oldukça
sınırlıdır. Bu nedenle, bu çalışmada, KYG’nin uygulama, değerlendirme ve
yorumlama süreçleri ele alınmış ve uygulamada göz önünde bulundurulması gereken
noktalar ve önlemlere dikkat çekilmiştir. Teoriye yöneltilen eleştirilere
rağmen, KYG’nin kültüre özgü, kariyer danışmanlığında paradigma değişimi
ihtiyacına cevap veren, kişinin kariyerini yapılandırmada ihtiyaç duyduğu en
önemli noktalardan biri olan kendini tanıma sürecine öznel, anlamlı ve bütüncül
bir inceleme sunan bir yöntem olduğu görülmektedir.
