A comprehensive update has been implemented to allow for more freedom in managing the visual identities of journals and to facilitate the use of the panel. Within the scope of this update, the DergiPark system has been structured in full compliance with WCAG standards to ensure equal and barrier-free access to information for all our users.
All newly launched features and improvements are presented below:
Design and Customization Innovations
- "Journal Design" Page: Through this new page added to the panel, editors will be able to choose between two different designs offered by the system.
- Instant Preview: The appearance of the selected design can be previewed instantly on the same page before publishing the journal.
- Detailed Customization: In both designs, it will be possible to:
- Adjust color and texture settings,
- Change the order of the information sections on the homepage,
- Easily manage the visibility (toggle on/off) of the "Announcements" and "About" sections.
- Flexible Design: The design preference is not permanent. Editors can change their selection from the "Journal Design" page at any time.
New Centralized Management: "Edit Journal Homepage" Panel
- A brand-new "Edit Journal Homepage" page has been added to the editor panel. (To make this menu visible, a design must first be selected from the "Journal Design" page.)
- Easy Management from a Single Screen: The homepage structure of the journal can be viewed on a single screen, and adjustments can be made without needing to search for content across different menus.
- Transparent Information: Verified information such as publisher details, ISSN, and journal name, along with system-generated statistical data that cannot be edited, are clearly displayed on this screen.
New Information Blocks Added to the Homepage
- Mandatory Statistics: Three key metrics selected from the "Time Statistics" on the journal statistics page have been added as a mandatory* block to the homepages of all journals.
- Pre-Check Time: Covers the average time from article submission to return without review, direct rejection/acceptance, or the first editor assignment.
- Review Time: Indicates the average time from article submission to the final decision.
- Publication Time: The average time from the article's acceptance to its publication. Articles published in early view are also included in this timeframe. > *This block will not appear for journals that do not conduct their article review processes using the DergiPark infrastructure.
- Article Submission History: With this block permanently added to the journal homepages, the journal's article acceptance dates and submission processes can be transparently tracked.
Advanced Announcement System
- Journals will now be able to publish their own custom announcements on their homepages.
- Sustainability and Transparency: A published announcement can be taken down but cannot be completely deleted from the system (from the internal journal page). All announcement actions will be recorded to create a secure archive.
Design Implementation Rules
To maintain system hierarchy, preserve visual integrity, and make the publication statuses of journals distinguishable at first glance, the following standards have been established:
- Newly Joined Journals: The "Efes" design will be assigned by default to all new journals joining DergiPark; editors may change this design if they wish.
- Journals with Fixed Design Assignments: Two different variants of the "Efes" design have been assigned to journals that do not publish current issues on DergiPark and only provide access to their past archives (removed, separated, or suspended publications) or to journals using their own custom domain redirection. For journals in this group, design changes cannot be made by editors, and customization settings will not be available.
You can log in to your management panel to discover our new tools and create your journal's design.
