Academic Platform Journal of Natural Hazards and Disaster Management (APJHAD) is a multidisciplinary international journal devoted to the publication of scientific studies and original researches on disaster science and management. Topics may be approached from any perspective or discipline: planning, engineering, economics, sociology, disaster relief, etc., but should have a clear focus on natural hazards and disaster management. The journal will publish papers both on theoretical and applied aspects of disaster science and engineering and serves a wide community of researchers, policymakers and practitioners from various disciplines.
The journal is international and accepts articles written in English. There is no fee for article submission, processing and publication.
Academic Platform Journal of Natural Hazards and Disaster Management (APJHAD) addresses issues of disaster science and engineering including the risk, prevention, response, recovery, reconstruction, mitigation, and preparedness, and as well as the models, strategies and technology applied in different elements of the field. The Template File describes the general information about publishing in APJHAD and how to prepare a manuscript for submission. The article must be written according to the template file given below. In the template, the page layout, fonts, titles and subtitles to be used in the article are defined in detail and applied to the text. Figures, graphs, pictures, formulas and tables should be original, produced in a clearly, ready for printing from the computer and should be referred in the text. Authors are encouraged to use common academic publication norms in places where not specified in the guide.
APJHAD accepts publications in English only. The manuscript will be returned to the author before the review process if not prepared based on the template and following layout. The manuscript should be submitted electronically as MS Word files through the Dergipark System.As of 2022, the journal will use embedded licensing information in articles. You can find the licensing information in the Journal's Open Access Policy page and in the Templete File.
ARTICLE LAYOUT
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Abstracts and full texts of all articles published in this journal are freely accessible to everyone immediately after publication without any form of restriction.
Academic Platform Journal of Natural Hazards and Disaster Management (APJHAD) does not require any fee for article submission, processing and publication of articles.
APJHAD uses double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process.
The Editorial Office of APJHAD will conduct a technical review to confirm that all of the required documentation has been submitted and the manuscript is suitable to the Journal. Then, the editorial team will initiate a double-blind review process where the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential, with a minimum of three independent experts for scientific evaluations. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles.
The peer-review process is based on studying the article in terms of originality, literature, methodology, and presenting the results and contribution to the field. Reviewers are given 14 days for the peer-review process. Based on the reviewers’ comments, the manuscript may go multiple rounds of evaluation. If revisions are required, the author(s) are required to prepare a revised manuscript and response to reviewers within 21 days based on the reviewers’ comments.
The editorial team of the APJHAD has a goal to have the first decision within 40 days of submission.
Human Subjects in Research, Ethics Committee Approval and Informed Consent
An approval of research protocols by the Ethics Committee in accordance with international standards is required for experimental, clinical, and for some case study reports. If required, ethics committee approval should be obtained and this approval should be stated in the article. For manuscripts concerning experimental research on humans, a statement should be included showing that written informed consent of human subjects and volunteers was obtained following a detailed explanation of the procedures that they may undergo. For studies carried out on animals, the measures taken on the animals should be stated clearly. Information on patient consent, the name of the ethics committee, and the ethics committee approval number should also be stated in the Materials and Methods section (or where appropriate) of the manuscript. It is the authors’ responsibility to carefully protect the patients’ anonymity. In case of using the intellectual and artistic works, the copyright regulations should be followed and appropriate statement should be included in the manuscript.

Dr. Abdulkadir Özden is an Assist. Prof. in Civil Engineering Department, Sakarya University of Applied Sciences since January 2020. He received a bachelor's degree from Ataturk University in 2005 and worked for the industry for few years. Then, he received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Delaware, USA in 2010 and 2017 respectively. During his time in the USA, he participated in many research projects in Delaware Center for Transportation at UD and worked closely with the Delaware Department of Transportation. After returning to Turkey, he worked for Eskisehir Osmangazi University between 2017 and 2020 and taught transportation courses at both Eskisehir Osmangazi University and Eskisehir Technical University. His research interests are Transportation Planning, Traffic Engineering, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Urban Public Transport, Micromobility, and Sustainable Urban Mobility.

Dr. Ana M. Petrović is a Senior Research Associate at the Geographical Institute “Jovan Cvijić” SASA, specializing in hydrology, soil erosion, and natural hazards. She graduated as the top student from the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade, in 2007 and completed her master's degree in 2008. During her studies, she was awarded a scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. In 2014, she earned a PhD in Biotechnical Sciences, focusing on torrential floods in Serbia. In 2015, she received the Outstanding Youth Paper Award from the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation. Her international research experience includes fellowships at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University (Romania), the WWF Institute for Floodplain Ecology (Germany), and BOKU University (Austria). She has led and participated in multiple national and international scientific projects, including bilateral research with China and a Danube Region research initiative. Ana is the author of a nationally significant book and has published over 60 scientific papers, contributed to monographs, and delivered invited lectures at international scientific conferences. She has also served as an editor, reviewer, and member of scientific and organizing committees for various international scientific conferences. Since 2012, she has been the National Coordinator for the DBU Scholarship Program in Serbia.

Murat Emre Kartal is a civil engineer and also a structural engineering professor. His research area includes structural and earthquake engineering, structure-fluid-foundation interaction, dams, bridges, semi-rigid connections, reinforced concrete and steel structures, soil dynamics, biomechanics etc. He also formerly worked in department of biomedical engineering. Now, he is working at department of civil engineering in İzmir Democracy University as a chairperson and full time Professor.
Ramazan Cansoy is Associate Professor of Educational Administration in Karabuk University. His current research interests include school leadership effects, instructional leadership, and innovative schools, teacher professional development, instruction.
