The aim of Artuklu Tourism Studies is to publish studies that will contribute to tourism literature in theoretical and practical terms, within the framework of the principle of impartiality and adhering to scientific ethical principles.

Publication Content
Artuklu Tourism Studies includes original scientific publications. All published articles, except editorial studies, are subject to a double-blind peer review process.

Purpose and Scope
The aim of the journal is to contribute to science by publishing high-quality publications of scientific importance. For this purpose, original research articles, reviews, case reports and letters to the editor in all areas related to basic or extended clinical experience in health sciences are published. Artuklu Tourism Studies is an independent, double-blind, open access and online journal that aims to publish articles in all areas related to tourism. Articles must describe original data that has not been published before or sent for publication elsewhere. Articles deemed appropriate for the submission rules and the scope of the journal are sent to at least two referees who are experts in the field for scientific evaluation. Discussing their suitability. The members of the Artuklu Tourism Studies Editorial Board then consider the comments of the referees regarding each submission. The final decision for all submitted articles belongs to the Editor-in-Chief. The Editorial Board of Artuklu Tourism Studies Journal is committed to complying with the criteria of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Article Submissions
Submitted manuscripts should be appropriate to the purpose and scope of the journal. Original, unpublished manuscripts that are not in the evaluation process in another journal and whose content and submission have been approved by each author are accepted for evaluation.

Readership
The target readership is members of professions, specialists, researchers, specialty and doctoral students as well as students related to this field in all areas of health. It aims to contribute to the spread of continuous professional development and research culture.

Price Policy
The publication of articles in the journal and the execution of article processes are not subject to any fee. No processing or submission fee is charged for articles submitted to the journal or accepted for publication. Artuklu Tourism Studies journal does not accept sponsorship and advertisement in accordance with its publication policies. All expenses of Artuklu Tourism Studies journal are covered by the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Tourism.

The copyrights of the works published in Artuklu Tourism Studies Journal belong to their authors. Authors grant permission for Artuklu Tourism Studies to publish their intellectual work under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

Originality of Articles
Artuklu Tourism Studies does not accept papers previously published elsewhere. However, published articles in a foreign language may sometimes be accepted.

Writing Rules
Articles to be sent to Artuklu Tourism Studies should be prepared according to the following rules.
1. Artuklu Tourism Studies is a refereed journal published twice a year. The publication languages ​​are Turkish and English.
2. Articles to be sent to the journal should not have been published or sent for publication elsewhere. Articles should be between 6000-8000 words. This number includes the title, abstract, keywords, text, figures, words in tables and sources; however, the author contact address is not included.
3. Articles sent to the journal are evaluated by at least two referees. If at least two of the referees submit a positive report, the publication process for the studies is initiated.
4. The authors are responsible for the opinions expressed in the articles sent to the journal. The authors own the copyright of their works published in Artuklu Tourism Studies Journal and their works are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0).
5. In studies sent to the journal, in order to prevent plagiarism and irregular citations, the references should be disabled in the similarity report and the total similarity amount should not exceed 20%.
6. In articles that use measurement tools (survey, test, scale, interview, observation, picture, drawing, video, film, audio recording, etc.) that require Ethics Committee approval, an ethics report must be obtained from the University Ethics Committee. This report must be uploaded to the system as a separate file from where the article is uploaded. The responsibility in this regard belongs to the responsible author of the article. The ethics committee approval document must be uploaded as an additional file when the study is uploaded to the system. In addition, information regarding permission (board name, date and number) must be stated on the last page of the article and in the method section, indicating that ethical rules are followed. If the study is in the status of not requiring ethics committee approval, prepared using secondary sources, a Declaration Form stating that Ethics Committee Approval is Not Required must be filled out.

Text Format
Articles sent to Artuklu Tourism Studies must be prepared in accordance with the following rules in order to be processed immediately. Articles that do not meet the format requirements will not be processed.

Page Format
Article files should only be sent in Microsoft Word format.

Article Length
Articles should not exceed 8000 words. This article length includes the entire text, including the bibliography and any appendices.

Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should be included in the text.

Tables and figures should be numbered within the text (for example, Table 2 or Figure 3).

Author Details
The names and institutions of all contributing authors should be included. Separate and correct e-mail accounts should be written for each author. ORCID ID should be added for all authors. In addition, the article information in the template should be filled in completely.

Main sections that should be included in the article to be sent to the journal:
Title of the Article: The title should not exceed 12 words. The English title should also be provided.
Abstract: Each article should include a Turkish and English abstract of at least 100 and at most 200 words, including the purpose, method and results of the study.
Keywords: The number of keywords should be limited to at least 5 words in both the Turkish and English abstracts. The first keyword should be the name of the main branch of science.
Introduction: A general summary of the research should be made and the main purpose of the research should be explained in the last paragraph.
Conceptual Framework: In this section, if necessary, the relevant concepts should be summarized without repeating the literature, and if such a situation is not the case, an evaluation should be made in the context of the results, oversights or contributions of previous studies related to the study without repeating them. If necessary, this section can be combined with the introduction. In this section, it is essential to present the problem that led to the research.
Method: The analyses that will provide the most appropriate solution to the research problem presented in the introduction and literature sections should be used. The most important point here is to include even the smallest details such as the universe, sample, scale creation, research date, duration, etc. included in the method without skipping.
Findings: Research questions or hypotheses should be evaluated here. While making these evaluations, you can use figures, graphs or tables, not exceeding six in number.
Conclusion, Discussion and Suggestions: The general results of the research are clearly stated. It is necessary to avoid repeating the research findings with the same or different sentences. Comparisons should be made with previous research for discussion. Applicable suggestions should be made based on the results.
References: The sources used in the study are listed completely and only with the sources used in the text should be shown on condition that the source is included.

Articles should be prepared according to the APA 7 Citation System.

Reference Methods
References should be given in alphabetical order according to the authors' surnames. A single list should be created without any classification for the sources. In the references to be made to the works in the text, the authors' surnames and publication date should be used.
In the references to be made to the works with more than three authors in the text, all names should be written in the first reference, and in the subsequent references, only the surname of the first author should be written and the following should be indicated as (et al.,).
If more than one work is cited in parentheses in the middle of a sentence or at the end of a sentence, it should be cited in alphabetical order.
If the sources are directly quoted in the text, the page number must be given when citing the source.
Tables, graphics and figures in the text should be created in a justified manner in the text area. Table, graph and figure titles should be written in bold.

Publication Ethics Principles
Publication Ethics can be defined as a self-regulatory mechanism that insists on honesty on behalf of authors, reviewers and publishers in order to establish higher standards of editorial processing. Ethical standards for publication exist to ensure high-quality scientific publications, public trust in scientific findings and respect for people's ideas.
• Honest researchers do not plagiarize.
• Do not misrepresent sources.
• Do not conceal objections that they cannot refute.
• Do not distort opposing views.
• Do not destroy or conceal data.

Peer-reviewed studies are studies that support and implement the scientific method. At this point, it is of great importance that all parties involved in the publication process (authors, readers and researchers, publisher, reviewers and editors) comply with ethical principles. Artuklu Tourism Studies Journal adheres to national and international standards in terms of research and publication ethics. It complies with the Press Law, the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works and the Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive. Artuklu Tourism Studies has adopted the International Ethical Publishing Principles published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).

Republication
Republication is the publication of the same article or substantially similar articles in more than one journal. The editor sends back such an article without reviewing it. After this, the editor may embargo the author who attempts to publish again for a certain period of time, make this public in the journal in which the author has previously published (perhaps as a simultaneous announcement with the editor of the journal that published the previous article), or apply all of these measures together.

Simultaneous submission of the same article to more than one journal
Authors cannot submit the same article to more than one journal at the same time. If the editor learns of the possible simultaneous submission, he/she reserves the right to consult with the other editor(s) who received the article. In addition, the editor may return the article without reviewing it or reject it without considering the reviews, or make this decision by discussing it with the other relevant editor(s) and decide not to accept article submissions from the authors for a certain period of time. He/she may also write to the authors' employers or implement all of these measures together.

Control to Prevent Plagiarism
Presenting the ideas, methods, data, applications, writings, figures or works of others as one's own work, in whole or in part, without citing their authors in accordance with scientific rules.
Artuklu Tourism Studies scans all submitted articles to prevent plagiarism. The studies submitted for review are checked for plagiarism using İntihal.net software. The similarity rate is expected to be less than 20%. The main measure for the similarity rate is that the author complies with the citation and citation rules. If the similarity rate appears to be 1% but the citation and citation are not made properly, plagiarism may still occur. In this respect, the citation and citation rules should be known by the author and carefully applied.
Plagiarism, duplication, false authorship/denied authorship, research/data fabrication, article slicing, publication by slicing, copyright violation and concealment of conflict of interest are considered unethical behaviors. All articles that do not comply with the accepted ethical standards are removed from publication. This also includes articles that contain possible irregularities and inappropriateness detected after publication.

Fraud
Producing data that is not based on research, editing or changing a presented or published work based on false data, reporting or publishing these, presenting research that has not been conducted as if it has been conducted.
False research records and obtained data, presenting methods, devices and materials that were not used in the research as if they were used, not evaluating data that is not in line with the research hypothesis, manipulating data and/or results to fit relevant theories or assumptions, falsifying or shaping research results in line with the interests of individuals and organizations from which support is received.

Protection of Participants' Personal Data
Artuklu Tourism Studies requires that all research involving personal or sensitive data or materials related to human participants that are not legally available to the public be subject to formal ethical review.
Handling Allegations of Research Misconduct
Artuklu Tourism Studies, COPE complies with the Ethical Toolkit for Successful Editorial Work. Artuklu Tourism Studies editors will take precautions to prevent the publication of articles in which plagiarism, citation manipulation, data falsification, data fabrication, and other research misconduct occur. In no case will Artuklu Tourism Studies editors knowingly permit such misconduct to occur. Artuklu Tourism Studies editors will follow COPE's guidelines in dealing with allegations if they become aware of any allegations of research misconduct related to an article published in their journal.

Ethical Violation Notifications
Readers may notify Artuklu Tourism Studies Journal by sending an e-mail to artuklutourismstuidies@artuklu.edu.tr if they notice a significant error or inaccuracy in an article published in the Journal, or if they have any complaints regarding editorial content (plagiarism, duplicate articles, etc.). We welcome submissions as they provide us with opportunities for improvement and respond quickly and constructively.

Correction, Retraction, Expression of Concern
Editors may consider publishing a correction if minor errors are detected in the published article that do not affect the findings, interpretations, and conclusions. Editors should consider retracting the article in cases of major errors/violations that invalidate the findings and conclusions. If there is a possibility of research or publication misconduct by the authors; if there is evidence that the findings are unreliable and the authors' institutions did not investigate the incident, or if the possible investigation appears to be unfair or inconclusive, editors should consider publishing an expression of concern. COPE guidelines are taken into account regarding correction, retraction, or expression of concern.

Publication of Studies Based on Surveys and Interviews
Artuklu Tourism Studies Journal adopts the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) "Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers" in order to create ethical assurance in scientific periodical publishing. In this context, the following points should be adhered to in the studies sent to the journal:
1) For studies requiring ethics committee approval in all branches of science (ethics committee approval must be obtained, this approval must be stated and documented in the article.
2) In studies requiring ethics committee approval, information regarding the permission (board name, date and issue number) should be included in the method section, as well as on one of the first/last pages of the article; in case reports, information indicating that the informed consent/consent form was signed should be included in the article.

Special Issue Publication Policy
Our journal may publish a special issue once a year upon the request of the Editorial Board. Articles sent for inclusion in a special issue are first subject to an editorial preliminary review. Then, they are examined for compliance with the journal's writing rules and similarity screening is performed to prevent plagiarism. After these stages, they are taken to the peer review process using the double-blind model.

Editorial Confidentiality Obligation
The editors of Artuklu Tourism Studies treat all submitted articles as confidential documents; this means that they will not disclose information about an article to anyone without the authors' permission. The following individuals may access articles during the article review process: Editors, Reviewers, Editorial Board Members. The only time details about a manuscript may be passed on to a third party without the authors’ permission is if the editor suspects serious research misconduct.

Allegations-Suspicions of Scientific Misconduct
There are different definitions of scientific misconduct. We address these issues on a case-by-case basis as Artuklu Tourism Studies follows the guidance established by major publication ethics bodies. If the editor suspects or alleges an ethical violation, they are obliged to take action. This duty extends to both published and unpublished articles. The editor should not simply reject articles raising concerns about possible misconduct. They are ethically obliged to follow up on alleged cases. The editor should follow COPE flowcharts where appropriate. Editors should first seek a response from those suspected of misconduct. If they are not satisfied with the response, they should ask the relevant employer or organization to investigate. The editor should make all reasonable efforts to ensure that an appropriate investigation into the alleged misconduct is conducted; if this fails, the editor should make all reasonable attempts to insist on a resolution to the problem. This is a laborious but important task.
Artuklu Tourism Studies follows COPE's Ethical Toolkit for a Successful Editorial. Artuklu Tourism Studies editors will take measures to prevent the publication of articles in which plagiarism, citation manipulation, data falsification, data fabrication, and other research misconduct have occurred. Under no circumstances will Artuklu Tourism Studies or its editors knowingly allow such misconduct to occur. If the editors of Artuklu Tourism Studies become aware of any allegations of research misconduct related to an article published in their journal, they will follow COPE's guidelines regarding allegations.
Reviewers should notify the Editor if they suspect research or publication misconduct. The Editor is responsible for taking necessary action following COPE recommendations.
Artuklu Tourism Studies is committed to following the COPE flowcharts when faced with allegations of misconduct in the following or similar areas.
• What to do if a rebroadcast is suspected
• What to do when plagiarism is suspected
• What to do when fabricated data is suspected
• What to do when requesting a change of authorship
• What to do when an undisclosed conflict of interest is suspected
• What to do when unfair or gift authorship is suspected
• What to do when an ethical problem is suspected in an article
• What to do when directly notified of a suspected ethical violation by e-mail, etc.
• What to do when a suspected ethical violation is announced via social media

Complaint Procedure
This procedure applies to complaints about content, procedures or policies that are the responsibility of Artuklu Tourism Studies or our editorial staff. Complaints can provide an opportunity and incentive for improvement and we aim to respond quickly, courteously and constructively.
The complaint must relate to content, procedures or policies that are the responsibility of Artuklu Tourism Studies or our editorial team. Complaints should be emailed directly to artuklutourismstuidies@artuklu.edu.tr and will be treated confidentially. The editor will respond to complaints immediately. The editor follows the procedure outlined in the COPE flowchart regarding complaints.
Complaints are reviewed by the relevant member of the editorial team and if not resolved, the following processes are followed:
• If this initial response is deemed inadequate, the complainant may request that the complaint be escalated to a more senior member of the journal.
• If the complainant is not satisfied, the complaint may be forwarded to the editor-in-chief.
• If possible, a full response will be provided within two weeks.
COPE publishes a code of practice for editors of scientific journals. This will facilitate the resolution of disputes with editors, journals and publishers, but only after the journal's own complaints procedures have been exhausted.

Appeal Process
We welcome serious objections to the evaluations made by editors and reviewers. If you feel that we have rejected your paper because we misunderstood its scientific content, please send an appeal message to our editorial team at artuklutourismstuidies@artuklu.edu.tr. Do not attempt to submit a revised version of your article at this stage. If, after reading your appeal letter, we realize that your appeal is justified, we may invite you to submit a revised version of your manuscript. Your paper will then be resubmitted to the external reviewer process. Please include as much detail as possible in the appeal letter. Finally, we can only consider one appeal per article, so please take the time and effort to write a detailed letter to make your appeal clear - you have one chance, so use it well. We have found that prolonged deliberation over rejected manuscripts is often unsatisfactory for both authors and editors, so we do not process multiple appeals for the same study.

Conflicts of Interest
A conflict of interest occurs when professional judgment about a primary interest may be influenced by a secondary interest (such as financial gain or personal competition). We believe that we need to know the competing interests of the authors in order to make the best decision about how to handle an article, and that readers need to know them if we publish the article.
Any interest, financial or otherwise, that could cause one to be conflicted in one's work, significantly impair one's objectivity, or give an unfair advantage to any person or organization. All sources of financial support received during the conduct of the research and preparation of the manuscript and the role of sponsors in the study should be disclosed. If there is no source of funding, this should also be indicated. Examples of potential conflicts of interest that should be disclosed include consultancies, salaries, grants. Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the earliest possible stage.
Artuklu Tourism Studies has a set process for handling submissions from editors, staff or editorial board members to ensure impartial review. Such submissions are first referred to other journals. If this is not possible, the author of the submission will be suspended from the journal. These submissions are reviewed in a double blind process.
The editor should not be involved in decisions about manuscripts written by him/herself or family members. Furthermore, such a paper should be subject to all the usual procedures of the journal. The editor should follow the COPE guidelines on disclosure of potential conflicts of interest by authors and reviewers.

Principles of Research Ethics
Artuklu Tourism Studies observes the highest standards of research ethics and adopts the international principles of research ethics defined below. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that manuscripts comply with ethical guidelines.
• The principles of integrity, quality and transparency should be ensured in the design, review of the design and conduct of the research.
• The research team and participants should be fully informed about the purpose of the research, its methods and its anticipated potential uses, and the requirements and risks, if any, of participating in the research.
• Confidentiality of information provided by research participants and confidentiality of respondents must be ensured. The research should be designed to protect the autonomy and dignity of the participants.
• Research participants should take part in the research voluntarily and should not be under any coercion.
• Harm to participants should be avoided. The research should be planned in a way that does not put participants at risk.
• Research independence must be clear and explicit; any conflict of interest must be stated.
• In experimental studies with human subjects, the written informed consent of the participants who decide to participate in the research must be obtained. Consent must be obtained from the legal guardian of children and those under guardianship or with a confirmed mental illness.
• If the study will be conducted in any institution or organization, approval must be obtained from this institution or organization that the study will be conducted.
• In studies with a human element, it should be stated in the “method” section that “informed consent” has been obtained from the participants and ethics committee approval has been obtained from the institution where the study is conducted.
