The Impact of Glass Ceiling Syndrome on Job Performance of Women Working in Sports Organizations
Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of glass ceiling syndrome on employee performance levels of women working in sports organizations. The universe of the research consists of 356 female participants working in Adana Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate, and the sample consists of 216 female participants who were included in the research on a voluntary basis. Within the scope of the research, the personal information form, the glass ceiling syndrome and employee performance scales found in the literature were used. IBM SPSS 22.0 package program was used in the analysis of research data. Pearson correlation analysis was applied to determine the relationships between variables. Simple regression analysis was applied to determine the effect of glass ceiling syndrome on the participants' employee performance.
As a result, it was determined that the glass ceiling syndrome felt by the participants was above average and their employee performance levels were low. It was determined that there was a low-level negative relationship between the glass ceiling syndrome and employee performance levels of the participants, and that the glass ceiling syndrome predicted employee performance. It is thought that this situation is due to the fact that the female employees participating in the study were affected by the difficulties they encountered in the professional sense, and this effect negatively affected their employee performance.
