Why Volunteering? A Research on Tourism in Terms of Reasons and Inharmoniousness

Abstract

The research focused on ecological lands turned into important leisure-time lands in today's world, where many alternatives of travel and accommodation preferences have emerged. Within the scope of the research; the reasons why the volunteers prefer the ecolands and the ecolands host volunteers are mutually examined, inharmoniousness levels are defined, the volunteer criteria developed by the ecolands over time are tried to be revealed. In order to reveal the current situation in ecolands, 12 ecolands accepting volunteers were visited, face-to-face interviews were held with 15 residents and 12 volunteers from these ecolands. The reasons of volunteers to go ecolands and ecolands to host volunteers are classified as experience, exploratory, utilitarian, transition to ecological life, social, psychological, ecological and populist reasons; while inharmoniousness levels are defined as the ones can be adapted, transformed, and creating conflict and they are explained depending on their causes.

Neden Gönüllülük? Nedenler ve Uyumsuzluklar Bağlamında Turizm Açısından Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Araştırmada seyahat ve konaklama tercihlerinin birçok alternatifinin ortaya çıktığı günümüzde, önemli boş zaman değerlendirme alanlarına dönüşen ekoyerleşkeler (ekolojik yerleşke) mercek altına alınmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında; ekoyerleşkelerin gönüllüleri kabul etme, gönüllülerin yerleşkeleri tercih etme nedenleri sınıflandırılarak karşılaştırılmış, uyumsuzluk aşamaları tanımlanmış, ekoyerleşkeler tarafından geliştirilen gönüllü kriterleri tanımlanmıştır. Ekoyerleşkelerdeki mevcut durumu ortaya koyabilmek adına, gönüllü kabul eden 12 ekoyerleşke ziyaret edilmiş; bu ekoyerleşkelerden 15 yerleşke sakini, 12 gönüllüyle yüz yüze görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Türkiye’deki yerleşke sakinlerinin gönüllü kabul nedenleriyle gönüllülerin ekoyerleşkeleri tercih nedenleri tecrübe, keşifsel, faydacı, ekolojik yaşama geçiş, sosyal, psikolojik, ekolojik ve popülist nedenler olarak belirlenmiştir. Belirlenen uyumsuzluklar adapte edilebilecek, dönüştürülebilecek, çatışma yaratan aşamalar olarak tanımlanmış ve nedenlerine bağlı olarak açıklanmışlardır.
