İzci Liderlerinin, İzcilik Kamp Eğitim ve Etkinliklerinin, İzcilerin Kişilik Özelliklerine Durumsal Yansımalarına Dair Görüşleri: Bir Durum Çalışması

Abstract

Doğa koşullarında yaparak ve yaşayarak öğrenme yaklaşımını benimseyen izcilik hareketi, gençlerin kişilik özellikleri üzerindeki etkileri de dikkate değer bir öneme sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, izci liderleri gözünden izcilerin uzun süreli yaz kampının; 5 faktör kişilik özellikleri bağlamında izcilerin davranışlarına yansımalarına dair deneyimlerinin, kapsamlı olarak ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum deseni kullanılmıştır. Örneklem yöntemi olarak ise amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örneklem yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme soruları katılımcılara yöneltilmiştir katılımcıların bilgilendirilmiş onamı alındıktan sonra gerçekleştirilen görüşmeler ses kaydına alınmış ve bu kayıtlar yazılı forma dönüştürülerek Word dokümanlarına aktarılmıştır. Bu süreçte veri kaybının önlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Elde edilen nitel veriler tematik analiz yöntemiyle değerlendirilmiş ve bu analizler doğrultusunda bir kod kitabı oluşturulmuştur. Verilerden elde edilen bulgular ise; Uyumluluk, Öz denetimlilik, Deneyime açıklık, Nevrotiklik ve dışadönüklük olmak üzere beş temayı oluşturmuştur. Sonuç olarak, beş temanın altında şekillenen kodlardan ise olumlu kişilik özelliklerinin ön plana çıktığı ve teşvik edildiği nevrotiklik gibi uyumsuz sıkılgan ve isteksiz kişilik özellikleri gösteren izcilerin ise bu davranışları azaltacak faaliyetlerin yapıldığı ifade edilmiştir. Gelecek araştırmalarda boylamsal çalışmalarla izciliğin kişilik üzerine etkileri sınanabilir.

Scout Leaders' Views on the Situational Reflections of Scouting Camp Training and Activities on Scouts' Personality Traits: A Case Study

Abstract

In this study, the aim was to comprehensively reveal the experiences of scout leaders regarding the long-term summer camp of scouts and its reflection on the behavior of scouts in the context of five personality traits. In this context, the case study method was used as a qualitative research method, and the criterion sampling method was used as a purposeful sampling method. Semi-structured interview questions were used as the data collection tool. The interviews were conducted after obtaining the informed consent of the participants, recorded, and transcribed into Word documents. The qualitative data obtained were evaluated using thematic analysis, and a code book was created based on these analyses. The findings obtained from the data formed five themes: Compliance, Self-control, Openness to experience, Neuroticism, and Extraversion. As a result, it was stated that positive personality traits were highlighted and encouraged under the five themes, while activities were carried out to reduce neuroticism, which is an incompatible, restless, and reluctant personality trait. In future research, longitudinal studies can be conducted to examine the effects of scouting on personality.
