Determination of Soil Productivity Status of Hazelnut Orchards in Ordu-Kumru Region

Abstract

Objective: It was aimed to determine the soil fertility status of some gardens where hazelnut is grown in Kumru district and to determine the deficiency and excess conditions by comparing with soil limit values. Materials and Methods: Soil Sampling and Analysis; soil samples were taken at 0-30 cm depth from 71 different hazelnut orchards from 40 different villages in Kumru District of Ordu Province. Soil texture, pH, EC (salt), lime, organic matter, total N, plant available phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn) and copper (Cu) concentration were determined. Results: It was found that the soils of the research area were generally clayey, without salt and moderate in terms of organic matter. Soil pH was found to be between the lowest pH 4.53 and the highest pH 7.87 within wide limits. According to soil analyzes, it was determined that there were deficiencies in terms of the total N and plant available P, K, Zn elements. Conclusion: In the research, it was determined that the hazelnut orchards in Kumru district have different structures and each orchard will need a specific fertilization.
