Year 2013, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 69 - 76, 30.04.2013

Abstract

AESTHETIC KNOWING AND NURSING

Year 2013, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 69 - 76, 30.04.2013

Abstract

Knowledge comes in many forms. Forms of knowledge reflect various attitudes developed by human beings throughout history toward life, the universe and human relations. A work of art that is created with the use of aesthetic symbols is an effective tool for understanding the universe. It reflects various specific aspects of human life. Aesthetic knowing is an art, while art is a form of planned communication. Aesthetic knowing assists our understanding of human responses to health and illness, and facilitates an understanding of events. Aesthetics is important because it necessitates the perception of knowledge, empathy and the attribution of value to life through daily review of experiences shared with individuals. Aesthetic values are utilized in illustrating and conveying the hidden attributes of nursing. Aesthetic knowing far exceeds a mere understanding of the experiences of a person. This article provides information on the use and importance of aesthetic knowing in nursing.
