Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine is an international, peer-reviewed, open access scientific journal, published online three times a year (in April, August, and December) by the University of Health Sciences, Türkiye. Ethical Principles
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine strictly adheres to internationally recognized research and publication ethics standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and Council of Science Editors (CSE). All parties — authors, reviewers, and editors — are required to comply with principles of research and publication ethics, including objectivity, transparency, accuracy, reliability, confidentiality, and disclosure of potential conflicts of interest.
Authors' Responsibilities
- Authors must submit original research presenting an authentic scientific contribution.
- All data, analyses, and results must be reported accurately and transparently.
- Proper citation and acknowledgement are required when using others' ideas, data, or text.
- All listed authors should have made substantial academic contributions and share collective responsibility.
- Simultaneous submission to multiple journals or resubmission of previously published work is prohibited.
- (If applicable) Authors must provide a clear statement confirming that the research has obtained ethical committee approval and all necessary legal permissions.
Reviewers' Responsibilities
- Reviewers accept manuscripts only within their expertise and complete evaluations objectively, constructively, and confidentially to enhance the scientific quality of the manuscript.
- Confidential information in reviewed manuscripts must not be shared or used for personal benefit.
- Reviewers must declare any real or perceived conflict of interest (e.g., collaboration, competition, financial ties) and decline the review if such a conflict exists.
- Suspected plagiarism, ethical violations, or major methodological issues must be reported to the editor.
Editors' Responsibilities
- Editors evaluate all submissions fairly, impartially, and within a reasonable time frame, based solely on scientific merit and relevance.
- Editors are responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of the review process.
- Editors must disclose and manage any personal, institutional, or financial conflicts of interest.
- Peer review follows a double-blind process.
- Allegations of misconduct (plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate or salami publication, etc.) are handled in accordance with the COPE guidelines and above mentioned internationally recognized standards. Possible actions include rejection, correction, retraction, or expression of concern.
- Editorial independence is guaranteed; decisions are free from commercial or institutional influence.
The following situations are considered serious ethical violations in academic publishing:
- Plagiarism: Using another person's ideas, text, or data without appropriate citation or acknowledgement.
- Fabrication: Forming and publishing false data, results, or information.
- Falsification: Manipulating or altering research data or results.
- Duplicate publication: Submitting content that has been previously published elsewhere.
- Salami publishing: Publishing the same study in multiple smaller parts as separate articles.
- Honorary/Ghost authorship: Including individuals as authors who did not contribute significantly, or excluding contributors who did.
Detected ethical violations are handled in accordance with the COPE guidelines and above mentioned internationally recognized standards.
Conflict of Interest Policy
All authors, reviewers, and editors are required to fully disclose any financial, academic, institutional, or personal interests that could potentially influence the work. These declarations are essential to ensure impartiality in the planning, conducting, reporting, and publication of research.
- Authors must report all funding sources, grants, institutional affiliations, sponsorships, and any relevant personal or academic interests.
- Reviewers and editors must recuse themselves from the evaluation process if a potential conflict of interest exists.
- All conflict of interest declarations are published alongside the manuscript to ensure transparency and trust.
- Any new conflicts that arise during the review or publication process should be reported to the editorial office.
- In cases where conflicts are not properly disclosed, the journal takes action in accordance with COPE guidelines.
Human and Animal Rights Policy
All studies involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki. Research involving animals must adhere to the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) and follow the international guidelines above mentioned. Prior to the commencement of any study, appropriate ethics committee approvals and necessary consents must be obtained. Authors are responsible for declaring that ethical approval has been secured and that the research was conducted in line with both national and international standards and guidelines. Editors and reviewers are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts meet ethical standards and may request additional documentation or clarification from authors when necessary.
Ethics committee approval (if applicable): Ethics committee approval for this study was obtained from the [Name of Ethics Committee] (Date: …, No: …). Ethics committee approval must also be stated in the "Materials and methods" section of the article and uploaded to the DergiPark system.
- Consent to participate (if applicable): All research involving human participants requires that freely given, informed consent is obtained from each participant prior to inclusion in the study. A clear statement confirming that informed consent has been obtained must be included in the "Materials and methods" section of the article.
- Consent to publish (if applicable): For case reports or any article that includes identifiable patient data, photographs, or other materials, authors must obtain written informed consent for publication from the patients or their legal guardians. The consent form must clearly indicate that the patient understands that their personal data and/or images may be published in a scientific journal and made publicly accessible online. A clear statement confirming that written informed consent has been obtained must be included in the "Materials and methods" section of the article. The consent form must be available to editors upon request.
Publication Policy
Editorial Procedure and Peer Review
All manuscripts submitted to Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine undergo rigorous evaluation in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and Council of Science Editors (CSE) guidelines.
- Initial screening:
Upon submission, the managing editorial team conducts a technical and formatting pre-check. Based on this, the manuscript may proceed to peer review, require revisions before review, or be rejected. - Peer review:
Selected manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other, ensuring an impartial and objective assessment. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts in the relevant field. Reviewers critically assess the academic integrity, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and originality of the work. - Revisions:
Authors are required to address reviewers' comments and make the necessary corrections. If needed, a second round of peer review may be conducted. - Final decision:
The managing editorial team (Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors) or a member of the Editorial Board makes the final decision considering the peer-reviewed reports, which may result in acceptance, rejection, or further revision. - Publication process:
Accepted manuscripts undergo professional editorial review, language polishing, and pre-publication layout, ensuring they meet the journal's quality standards. The article is then published online.
The typical manuscript review period is 4–6 weeks, subject to variation depending on reviewers' response times.
Open Access, Licensing and Copyright Policy
Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine is an open access journal that provides free and immediate worldwide access to all published content. In line with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), the journal supports the global sharing of scientific knowledge. All content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0). Everyone is free to reuse published materials for non-commercial purposes; however, proper and complete attribution to the original article is required for all uses.
The author(s) retain copyright of the manuscript under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. If the manuscript is accepted for publication, the author(s) transfer the commercial rights to the Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine, granting the journal the right to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and commercially exploit the manuscript in all forms and media. Each author of the manuscript is required to carefully read and sign the Copyright Agreement Form (click to download). The completed form, bearing the original signatures, must be scanned and uploaded to the DergiPark system at the time of manuscript submission.
Archiving Policy
Journal of Integrative and Anatolian Medicine ensures the sustainable digital preservation and accessibility of all published content through the DergiPark infrastructure, which is integrated with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program. All articles are securely archived using LOCKSS, guaranteeing permanent accessibility, even if the journal ceases publication.
The journal permits all versions of the published article to be deposited in an institutional or other repository of the author's choice, without any embargo.
