Transformation of public space in modern society identity and anonymization

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine the transformation of public spaces into transit zones and consumption environments, losing their quality as environments for sharing and producing thoughts, ideas, and culture. It will explore this transformation within the contexts of anonymity, identity, communication, media, perception management, and alienation. The study will investigate how the development of urban and spatial designs within the framework of the new modern society paradigm has changed the nature of identity and agency, the relationship of the self with the other, and the structure of community and cultural meaning. Additionally, it will analyze individuals' experiences in the process of transforming public spaces into increasingly individualized areas. Modern spaces primarily rely on functionality and attractiveness. The dominant theme of the new understanding of public spaces, defined as consumption and gain, diverges from supporting modern social life, cultural production, democratic rights and freedoms, and new and alternative thought productions and actions. Public spaces, which are turning into fast transportation lines and transit zones, seem to promote the accelerated sociality of consumption and gain actions instead of individual development and maturation conceptually. This shift significantly impacts social structure and forms of communication, leading to a new form of anonymity where individuals contribute to a culture and planned guidance that is not their own. The study aims to reevaluate society's power to create culture and develop awareness and policies towards the real function of public spaces within the framework of the relationship between space and social behavior.

Modern toplumda kamusal mekânın dönüşümü kimlik ve anonimleşme

Abstract

Bu çalışma, kamusal mekânın düşünce, fikir ve kültür paylaşım ve üretim ortamı niteliğini kaybederek geçiş hatları ve tüketim ortamlarına dönüşme sorunu anonimleşme, kimlik dönüşümü bağlamlarında eleştirel bir bakışla ele almayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada, yeni modern toplum paradigması çerçevesinde gelişen kent ve mekân tasarımlarının kimliğin ve failliğin doğasını, benliğin ötekiyle ilişkisini, topluluk ve kültürel anlam yapısını nasıl değiştirdiğini irdelemekte, kamusal mekânın giderek bireysel alanlara dönüştürülmesi sürecinde bireyin etkilenimlerini analiz edilecektir. Modern mekânların temel unsuru, salt işlevsellik ve dikkat çekicilik üzerine kurulu olmalarıdır. Ana teması tüketim ve kazanma olarak belirlenmiş modern toplumsal yaşamı destekleyen yeni kamusal mekân anlayışı, toplumsal yaşamı, kültürel üretim, demokratik hak ve özgürlükler, yeni ve alternatif düşünce üretimleri eylemlerinden uzaklaştırmaktadır. Tüm bileşenler bireyin kendi katkısı olmayan üretilmiş bir kültürün ve planlanmış bir yönlendirmenin parçası olarak yeni bir anonimleşme biçimini ortaya koymasına yol açmıştır. Kamusal mekânların asıl amaçlarından uzaklaşarak nitelik değiştirmesi modern toplumun önemli sorunlarından biri olarak görülmektedir. Bu çerçevede çalışma mekân ve sosyal davranış ilişkiselliği çerçevesinde sosyal bilincin etkilenimlerini irdelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Böylece toplumun kültür oluşturma gücünü yeniden ele alması ve kamusal mekânların gerçek işlevinde kullanmasına yönelik bilincin ve politikaların geliştirilmesine katkı sunmayı hedeflemektedir.
