Journal of Physical Education and Sports Studies (JPESS) applies a double-blind peer-reviewed process. Manuscripts submitted to the JPESS for evaluation are sent to at least two reviewers who are unaware of each other.
The studies submitted to the journal are pre-evaluated within 10 days at the latest and the author is informed.
The editor and field editors check the scientific quality of the study and its compliance with the journal's scope and format. Based on a common opinion, the study may be rejected without being subjected to referee evaluation.
After checking the authors’ names and descriptive information, the editor sends the anonymous manuscript to the reviewers.
In the process, none of the authors and reviewers have any information about the others.
Manuscripts in the English language are first checked by language editors.
The time given to the reviewers for evaluation is 30 days.
Reviewers can only see the manuscript submitted by the author once they agree to review it.
If one of the reviewers suggests a major revision for the manuscript, the editors examine the situation in detail in terms of the degree and applicability of the criticism/revisions and may make a rejection decision at this step if necessary.
After both reviewers have completed their evaluation of the manuscript, all reviewers’ comments are sent to the author.
Reviewers’ comments are shared with the authors in accordance with the blindness/anonymity.
From this moment on, authors are allowed to make changes to their documents in line with the reviewers' suggestions.
Authors are given 4 weeks to complete their revisions.
Corrections received from the author are checked again by the editor/field editor.
Authors are required to indicate the corrections/changes they have made based on the reviewers' comments by coloring them in the text. Authors need to upload a separate file named Responses to Reviewers. In this file, the revisions made in response to each reviewer's comment must be specified in detail.
If the revisions are not completed within the specified period, the study is removed from the process and the author is informed unless additional time is requested by the authors.
Considering all the processes, the editor informs the authors about his/her absolute decision on publication or rejection.
For all manuscripts that have been peer-reviewed, the reviewers' opinions are communicated to the author in accordance with the double-blind system, even if the manuscript is rejected.
