Information for the Editor and BroadcastingBoard

The principles regarding the assignments of the Editor, Assistant editor and broadcasting board, the establishment of the committees, their duties, responsibilities and determination of their tenure have been established on the basis of the 'Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Scientific Journals Directive'.

Editor's Tasks

ARTICLE 8- (1) Regarding to Article 5 of the Press Law No. 5187, the editor carries out the Managing Director and determines the publication policy of the journal by taking the opinions of the Broadcasting Board.
(2) The editor is responsible to ensure that the journal publishes scientifically and technically complete and on time.
(3) The Editor arrange a meeting with the Broadcasting Board members at least four times in a year and chairs the meeting.
(4) The editor makes the initial evaluation of the articles submitted to the journal. Examining the incoming article in terms of compliance with the subject and journal principles in evaluation process, the editor initiates the refereeing process or rejects it by deciding that it is not suitable for the journal.
(5) The editor examines the accepted articles or ensures that they are examined in terms of scientific validity, grammar, rhetoric, and spelling.
(6) The editor prepares the annual report which summarizes the developments in the journal, the decisions of the Broadcasting Board, the publication and citation statistics of the journal and presents it to the President through the Academic Unit Manager.
(7) If the editor needs, s/he may propose to the academic unit manager to appoint an Assistant Editor to assist him. In the event that the Editor is unable to perform his tasks for any reason, the appointed Assistant represents the Editor.
(8) The editor makes the final decision on the issues where unanimity cannot be reached in the Broadcasting Board, taking into account the ideas of the Broadcasting Board.
(9) The editor invites the Broadcasting Board to a meeting in certain periods in order to make a preliminary evaluation of the articles submitted to the Journal.
Assistant editor
ARTICLE 9- (1) With the proposal of the journal editor and the approval of the Academic Unit Manager, one or more assistant editors may be appointed for a limited period of the editor's tenure.
(2) They assist the editor(s) on technical issues and in the follow-up of articles.
Tasks and tenure of assistant editor
ARTICLE 10- (1) The Assistant Editor is responsible for carrying out the work given by the Editor according to schedule drawn by the Editor.
(2) The Assistant Editor is responsible for assisting the Editor in order to fast, meticulous, ethical and smooth journal process and complete publication of the journal on time.
(3) Assistant Editor assists the Editor in fulfilling the Editor's other tasks and responsibilities.
Broadcasting board, tasks and tenure of the broadcasting board
ARTICLE 11- (1) The editor and editor assistant are regular members of the board. The editor chairs the meeting of the board.
(2) The Broadcasting Board consists of at least 7 members and regular members whose tenure is 2 years. The board members are elected by the academic unit administrative board among the candidates who apply from among the academic staff working in the relevant academic units, who have come to the fore with their scientific studies, or suggestions of the academic unit's administrative board’s members. Members whose tenure has expired may be reassigned in the same process.
(3) With absolute majority, the Broadcasting Board can hold meetings and take decisions.
(4) A member of the Broadcasting Board may be dismissed by the academic unit's administrative board when deemed necessary. In order to complete the remaining period, which requires the member to fulfill, the election of a new member is implemented in the same procedure as the academic unit administrative board.
(5) The Broadcasting Board negotiates all kinds of evaluations and suggestions regarding the scientific flow and publication of the journal. In this context, it expresses opinion and makes recommendations.
(6) The Broadcasting Board ensures the establishment of referee pools in the fields where the journal publishes; makes referee suggestions to the Editor for the articles deemed appropriate to be included in the refereeing process. Members of the Broadcasting Board, assigned by the Editor according to their subjects, are responsible for submitting the referee suggestions for each article to the Editor within 10 days at the latest, so that the functioning of the journal is not disrupted.
(7) Members of the Broadcasting Board are responsible to give opinions and take decisions on the publication policy, operation, publication principles and writing rules of the journal.
(8) Members of the Broadcasting Board must follow the developments regarding the journal.
(9) Any of the members of the Broadcasting Board have no privileges in terms of authority and responsibilities due to differences such as job title, staff degree, etc.
(10) According to the evaluations of the referees, the Broadcasting Board makes the publication order of the articles accepted by the referees after detecting whether the article will be published or not.
(11) The Board decides to publish a special issue.
(12) The Board examines the articles sent to the journal in terms of format suitability and relevancy of the related field and ensures that the articles are submitted to the referee's evaluation.
