Author Guidelines

General Principles

Scientific papers submitted to bitig Journal of Faculty of Letters, published by Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, must not have been previously published in any other medium or submitted for publication elsewhere. The journal operates a double-blind peer review process, whereby the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential from one another. The journal accepts original research articles, translations and book reviews from within its scope. No more than one work by the same author(s) will be published in the same issue.

Language and Style

The journal accepts articles in both Turkish and English. The Turkish Language Association’s guidelines shall be followed regarding spelling and punctuation. Submitted articles must meet academic standards in terms of language and style, and should be clear and comprehensible. The editors reserve the right to make corrections to the text regarding language and spelling wherever necessary.

Ethical Guidelines and Similarity Rate

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts comply with ethical guidelines. The similarity rate between the work and other scientific publications must not exceed 20%. The editorial board reserves the right to request an ethics committee certificate from authors whenever it is necessary.

Word Limits

Research Articles: Must be between 5,000 and 10,000 words, including the abstract and references.

Book Reviews: Must be between 2,000 and 4,000 words.

Translations, textual editions and works containing excavation reports in the field of Archaeology are exempt from these limits.

Manuscript Template and Formatting Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to our journal in the fields of social sciences and philology must be prepared in Microsoft Word, using the MLA citation system, in accordance with the template and guidelines presented below. Manuscripts not uploaded to the system in the specified format will not be considered for review.
