Teknoloji Kullanımının Yansımaları: Teknoloji Kullanımıyla Kaybolan Değerler Hakkında Ebeveyn Görüşleri

Abstract

Bilişim teknolojilerindeki gelişmeler, bireyleri ve toplumsal yaşamı derinden etkilemektedir. Gelişen teknolojiler ve bu teknolojilerin barındırdığı özellikler toplumu, etkileşim tercihi, bilgiye erişim, insani değerleri vb. birçok yönden etkilemektedir. Bu etki olumlu ve olumsuz yönde olabilmektedir. Öte yandan bilişim teknolojileri karşısında bireyler aktif roldedir. Günümüzde bu vazgeçilmez teknolojilerin özellikle çocuklar üzerindeki etkileri ise üzerinde durulması gereken bir konudur. Teknolojiyle iç içe yaşayan ve dolayısıyla teknolojinin etkilerine doğrudan maruz kalan çocukların teknoloji kullanımının değerler üzerindeki etkisi, insani ilişkilerine bu yoğun kullanımın nasıl yansıdığını araştırmak amacıyla bu çalışma yapılmıştır. Araştırma, bilgisayar, tablet, akıllı telefon ve İnternet gibi yaygın kullanıma sahip olan bilişim teknolojileri kullanımına dayalı olarak yapılmıştır. Nitel yöntemle desenlenen bu araştırmada araştırmacılar tarafından yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu hazırlanmıştır. Görüşme formu hazırlanırken nihai formu oluşturmak için ilgili alan uzmanından görüş alınmıştır. Bu çalışmada 11 ebeveyn ile görüşme yapılmıştır. Katılımcılardan nitel yolla toplanan veriler içerik analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları ebeveynlerin çoğunluğunun çocuklarının değerlerin kazanımı konusunda teknolojinin olumsuz etkisi olduğunu düşünmektedir. Ebeveynler teknolojinin çocuklarda en çok paylaşım değerini yozlaştırdığını belirtmiştir. Ayrıca ebeveynlere göre değerlerin korunması ve sürdürülmesi için teknolojinin sunduğu içeriklerin değerleri içermesi gerekmektedir.

Reflections of Using Technology: Parental Views on Values That Tend to Be Degenerated with the Use of Technology

Abstract

Developments in information technology are affecting individuals and social life deeply. Technologic improvements and various features brought by such improvements effect the society in a number of ways like choice of interaction, access to information, humanitarian values, etc. These effects may be positive or negative. Besides, individuals are active in the face of information technology. Today, the effects of these indispensable technologies especially on children are a matter to be emphasized. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of children’s technology use on values and how this intensive use is reflected in human relations by the children, who are living together with the technology and therefore directly exposed to the effects of technology. The research has been based on the use of common information technologies such as computers, tablets, smartphones and the Internet. Semi-structured interview form was implemented by the researchers in this study which is designed by qualitative method. While the interview form was being prepared, opinions were taken from the relevant field experts to generate the final form. 11 parents were interviewed in this study. Qualitative data collected from participants were analysed by content analysis method. Research findings suggest that the majority of parents think that technology has adverse effects on children's attainment of values. Parents have stated that technology corrupts the value of sharing the most in children. Besides, according to parents, the content provided by technology should also include values to protect and sustain certain ones.
