Yaşam Memnuniyetinin Zenofobi ile İlişkisinde Çokkültürlülük, Dini Grup Kimliği ve Ulusal Kimliğinin Aracı Rolü

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı; yaşam memnuniyeti ile zenofobik tutum arasındaki ilişkinin açıklanmasında çokkültürlülük, dini grup kimliği ve ulusal kimliğin aracı rolünün incelenmesidir. Bu kapsamda çalışmada, araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan kişisel bilgi formu yanı sıra yaşam doyumu ölçeği, yabancı düşmanlığı (zenofobi) ölçeği, dini grup kimliği ölçeği ve ulusal kimlik ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma hipotezlerini test etmek için Türkiye’de 18 yaş üzerindeki 904 katılımcı ile nicel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak bir çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Katılımcılara kartopu örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak ulaşılmıştır. Saha çalışmasında elde edilen veriler SPSS ve AMOS programları kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada; öncelikle yaşam memnuniyeti ile zenofobik tutum arasındaki ilişki test edilmiştir. Yaşam memnuniyeti ile zenofobik tutum arasında negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca; yaşam memnuniyeti ile zenofobik tutum arasındaki ilişkide ulusal kimliğin ve dini grup kimliğinin aracılık rolüne sahip olduğu; çokkültürlülüğün ise bu ilişki üzerinde aracılık rolünün olmadığı bulunmuştur. Eğitim düzeyinin hem çokkültürlülük hem de dini grup kimliğinin zenofobik tutum ile ilişkisinde ılımlaştırıcı bir etkiye sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları, göçmenlere yönelik zenofobik tutumların önlenmesi için bireysel ve toplumsal düzeyde daha derinlemesine çalışmaların yapılması gerektiğinin önemini göstermektedir.

National Identity, Religious Group Identity, and Multiculturalism as Mediators Between Life Satisfaction and Xenophobia

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mediating role of multiculturalism, religious group identity and national identity in explaining the relationship between life satisfaction and xenophobic attitude. In this context, in addition to the personal information form created by the researchers, the life satisfaction scale, xenophobia scale, religious group identity scale and national identity scale were used in the study. In order to test the research hypotheses, a study was conducted with 904 participants over the age of 18 in Turkey using a quantitative research method. The participants were reached using the snowball sampling method. The data obtained in the field study were analysed using SPSS and AMOS programs. In the research; firstly, the relationship between life satisfaction and xenophobic attitude was tested. It was determined that there was a significant negative relationship between life satisfaction and xenophobic attitude. In addition, it was found that national identity and religious group identity had a mediating role in the relationship between life satisfaction and xenophobic attitude. In contrast, multiculturalism did not have a mediating role in this relationship. It was determined that the level of education had a moderating effect on the relationship of both multiculturalism and religious group identity with xenophobic attitudes. The results of the research show the importance of conducting more in-depth studies at individual and social levels to prevent xenophobic attitudes towards immigrants.
