EĞİTİLEBİLİR ZİHİNSEL ENGELLİ ÇOCUKLARIN FİZİKSEL ÖZELLİKLERİNİN NORMAL GELİŞİM GÖSTEREN YAŞITLARI İLE KARŞILAŞTIRILARAK İNCELENMESİ

Öz

Eğitilebilir zihinsel engelli çocukların (12-18 yaş) boy, ağırlık ve deri kıvrım kalınlıkları gibi fiziksel özelliklerini incelemek, normal gelişim gösteren yaşıtları ile karşılaştırma yaparak aradaki farklılıkları ortaya koymak, bu bilgileri çocuk gelişimci ve beden eğitimcilerin yararına sunabilmek amacıyla planlanan bu araştırma 156 eğitilebilir zihinsel engelli (EZE) ve 157 normal gelişim gösteren öğrenci (NGG) olmak üzere toplam 313 çocuk üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada “Project Unique Test” ile Hastad ve Lacy’nin (1989) önerdikleri testlerden yararlanılarak boy, ağırlık ve deri kıvrım kalınlığı ölçümleri yapılmıştır.Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, EZE kız ve erkek öğrencilerin NGG akranlarına göre boy uzunluklarının daha kısa, beden ağırlıklarının daha düşük olduğu, NGG öğrencilerin fiziksel özelliklerinde görülen cinsiyet farklılığı EZE öğrencilerde gözlenememiştir. NGG kız ve erkeklerde yaşla birçok parametre arasında ilişki bulunurken EZE öğrencilerde yaşla sadece boy özelliğinin ilişkili olduğu belirlenmiştir.

COMPARASIONAL STUDY ON PHYSİCAL CHARACTERISTICS OF EDUCABLE MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN AND THEIR NORMAL PEARS

Abstract

This study that has been planned with the purpose to determine the differences between educable mentally retarded (EMR) children and their normally developed peers by studying their heights, weights, triceps and subscapular skinfolds, to present the results to physical educator and child developer has been carried out on totally 313 (156 EMR children and 157 children with normal development). In this studie heights, weights, triceps and subscapular skinfolds are measured as being used “ Project Unique Test” and “Physical and Motor Proficiency Test” which has been suggested by Hastad and Lacy (1989) According to the results of the study it has been determined that the body height of EMR girls and boys is shorter, the body weight is less and compared to their peers with normal development. Sex differences that have been observed on normally developed children couldn’t be observed on EMR children. While there are relations between the age and a lot of parameters of normally developed children there is a relation only between the body height and the age on EMR children
