Dion Khrysostomos’un Krallık Söylevlerinde «İdeal» Kral Tasviri

Abstract

 Bu makalede, Dion
Khrysostomos’un İmparator Tra­ianus’a ithaf ederek oluşturduğu krallık
söylevlerinde (Περὶ
βασιλείας: or. 1-4) sunduğu «ideal» kral
tasviri in­celenmektedir. Hatip, krallık söylevlerinde bir yandan, bir kralın
sahip olması gereken erdemlere ve uzak durması ge­reken erdemsizliklere
yoğunlaşırken; bir yandan da şiir, müzik, felsefe ve hitabet gibi kültürel
kazanımlardan bes­lenme ve giyinme gibi temel hususlara dek uzanan özel bir
eğitim ve yaşam önerisi sunar. Ayrıca, «ideal» krala özgü temel erdemlerden
biri olarak gördüğü dostluk konusu üze­rinde de durur. Hatip bu söylevlerinde,
hem Hellen bil­geliği çerçevesinde yönetimin iyileşmesi ve kötüye git­memesi
adına, Roma imparatorunu muhatap alan ideolo­jik bir yaklaşım sergiler; hem de
ismini zikretmeden Do­mitianus ve Traianus’un sahip olduğu niteliklere atıfta
bu­lu­narak onların kişiliklerine ayna tutar. Böylece, hatibin «ideal» kral
tasviri incelendiğinde, Traianus ideolojisi ve adı geçen imparatorlarla ilgili
duygu ve düşünceleri ortaya çıkmış olur.
