Gökçeada Uğurlu-Zeytinlik Yerleşmesi Kalkolitik Dönem Açkı Bezemeli Çanak Çömlekleri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Gökçeada Uğurlu-Zeytinlik yerleşmesinde MÖ V. binyıla ait perdah bezemeli çanak çömlekler incelenmiştir. Toplam 74 parça ile 1 adet tümlenebilir kaba ait perdah bezemeli örnekler yerleşmenin batısındaki III. kültür katına ait bir bağlamda ve II. kültür katıyla ilişkili iki bağlamda ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Örneklerin yer aldığı bağlamlar göz önüne alındığında, yaklaşık MÖ 5000’lerde başlayan perdah bezeme geleneğinin MÖ 4300’lere kadar süreklilik gösterdiği anlaşılmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, parçaların yoğun olarak ele geçtiği çukurlarda Kalkolitik Çağ boyunca Batı Anadolu ve Doğu Ege Adaları’nda yayılım gösteren çanak çömlek kültürüne ait karakteristik kap formları ile birlikte, Uğurlu’nun III. kültür katına ait kulakçıklı kapların bulunmuş olması, daha önceki çalışmalarda kültürel boşluk olarak tabir edilen MÖ 4900-4500 yılları arasında yerleşmenin kullanılmış olabileceğini göstermiştir. Uğurlu’da ele geçmiş perdah bezemeli örnekler stilistik açıdan bazı farklılıklar göstermesine rağmen Doğu Ege Adaları ve Batı Anadolu boyunca perdah bezemenin görüldüğü birçok yerleşme ile yakın benzerliklere sahiptir. Dolayısıyla Uğurlu yerleşiminin II. Kültür Katı içinde bölgesel bir kültürel etkileşim ile bağı olduğu söylenebilir.

Chalcolithic Pattern-Burnished Pottery from Uğurlu-Zeytinlik on Gökçeada

Abstract

This study examines the V. millenium B.C pattern-burnish decorated pottery from the settlement of Uğurlu-Zeytinlik on Gökçeada. A total of 74 sherds and 1 whole pot with pattern-burnished decoration were found in one context in Phase III and two other contexts related with Phase II, all from the western part of the mound. Based upon the contexts of recovery, it could be argued that the pattern-burnish decorated pottery tradition was in use at the site from ca. 5000 B.C to ca. 4300 B.C. The discovery of a large number of pattern-burnish decorated sherds along with eared-pots typical of the Phase III and other pottery types peculiar to the Chalcolithic of Western Anatolian sites and of the Eastern Aegean Islands in pits imply that Uğurlu might have also been inhabited between 4900-4500 B.C, a period which was previously regarded as a cultural lacuna at the site. Although there are a number of stylistical differences, pattern-burnish decorated pot sherds from Uğurlu have close parallels among the pottery repertoire of the sites of the Eastern Aegean Island and of Western Anatolian littoral. Ultimately, it can be argued that Phase II occupation at Uğurlu was also a part of large cultural interaction sphere that existed during this millennium.
