İş Yerinde İntikamcı Davranışlar ve Medea Sendromu: Türk Kamu Yönetimi Alanına İlişkin Bir Vaka Analizi

Öz

Çalışma, örgütlerde intikamcı davranışları, psikoloji bilimi konseptlerinden olan ‘Medea Sendromu’ çerçevesinde incelemeye dönük olarak tasarlanmıştır. Bu anlamda çalışma; kadının, çeşitli nedenlerle eşine duyduğu nefreti çocuklarına yansıtması, -doğrusu- eşinden intikam almak amacıyla çocuklarına zarar vermesi olarak tanımlanabilecek Medea Sendromu’nun, iş yerinde intikamcı davranışları açıklamada da bir model olarak kullanılabileceği varsayımı üzerine temellendirilmiştir. Vaka incelemesine dayanan çalışmada, bir devlet üniversitesindeki fakülte yöneticileri arasındaki çekişmeden kaynaklanan intikamcı eylemlerde astların neden ve nasıl bir araç olarak kullanıldıklarının belirlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Nihai olarak, aralarındaki çekişme nedeniyle kendinden daha üst makamda bulunan bir amirinden intikam alma niyetiyle bazı üstlerin, astlarını kullanma eğiliminde oldukları belirlenmiştir. Bu eğilimin temel nedenleri; “üst makamlarda psikolojik baskı oluşturma arayışı, sahip olunan kısıt ve yetersizlikler, sosyal baskı yaratma arzusu” başlıkları altında toplanmıştır. İntikamcı davranışların uygulanmasında ise; “biçimsel yetkiye dayalı ayrıcalıklara başvurulması, daha üst yöneticiye görünür kasıtlı eylemlerin geliştirilmesi, ast(lar)ı değersizleştirme yoluyla denge arayışı” gibi bir takım yol ve yöntemler kullanılarak uygulandığı belirlenmiştir

Revanchist Behaviours in the Workplace and Medea Syndrome: A Case Analysis in the Turkish Public Administration Field

Öz

This study is designed to analyze revanchist behaviors in the framework
of Medea Syndrome which is a conception in Psychology. In this sense,
the study is structured on the proposition that Medea Syndrome, that
is about mother’s endamaging children for revenge on their father, can
be employed to explain revanchist behaviors in work place. In the case
depended study, it is aimed that how and why inferiors can be employed
as an instrument in revanchist actions stemmed from a contention between
faculty managers at a state university.
At the end, it is determined that some superiors can be in a tendency to
use their inferiors for revenge on their own superiors. The main reasons
of this tendency are: “looking for a psychological pressure on superiors,
inabilities and constraints, intention for social pressure”. In implementing
revanchist behaviors some strategies such as “applying privileges
depended on formal authority, creating visible actions to superiors, looking
for equity by trivializing” can be employed
