Sembolik Etkileşim Yaklaşımı ile BÖTE Öğretmen Adaylarının Teknoloji ve İnsani Değerler Üzerine Görüşlerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının teknoloji ve insani değerler ilişkisi üzerine bakış açılarını sembolik etkileşim yaklaşımı merceğinden incelemektir. Araştırmanın katılımcıları, kriter örnekleme stratejisi doğrultusunda seçilen 12 Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi bölümü öğretmen adayından oluşmaktadır. Bu nitel araştırmada veriler, odak grup görüşmeleri yoluyla toplanmıştır. Verileri analiz etmek için, sembolik etkileşim yaklaşımından yararlanılarak açık kodlama kullanılmıştır. Bulgular, öğretmen adaylarının teknolojinin genel kullanımda hem olumlu hem de olumsuz etkilerinden bahsettiklerini göstermiştir. Onlara göre, olumlu etkiler bilginin yayılma hızı ve iletişim ile ilgili iken, olumsuz etkiler teknoloji nedeniyle yalnızlaşma ve dikkat dağılmasını içermektedir. Öğretmen adayları, değer sembolleri üzerinde konuşurken genel olarak sosyal medya platformları ve teknolojiden söz etmişlerdir. Onlara göre, sosyal medya ile ilgili semboller fenomen olma ve video, metin ve bilgi paylaşımıdır. Öğretmen adayları, teknolojik gelişmelerin öğrencilerin “saygı”, “sevgi”, “sorumluluk”, “vatanseverlik”, “yardımseverlik”, “dostluk”, “dürüstlük”, “kendini kontrol” ve “sabır” gibi değer yönelimleri üzerinde etkili olduğunu belirtmişlerdir.

Exploration of CEIT Prospective Teachers’ Views on Technology and Human Values with the Symbolic Interaction Approach

Abstract

The purpose of the current study was to explore prospective teachers’ point of views on technology and human values relation from the symbolic interaction approach lens. The participants of the study consisted of 12 Computer Education and Instructional Technology department prospective teachers chosen in line with criterion sampling strategy. In this qualitative research study, the data were collected through focus group interviews. Open coding was used to analyze data by benefitting symbolic Interaction approach lens. The findings showed that prospective teachers mentioned both positive and negative effects of technology in general use. According to them, positive effects related with information dissemination speed, and communication while negative effects included isolation and distraction because of technology. The prospective teachers mentioned social media platforms and technology in general while speaking on the value symbols. According to them, the symbols related with social media was to being phenomenon and sharing videos, texts and information. The prospective teachers stated that technological developments have an influence on students’ value orientations such as “respect”, “love”, “responsibility”, “patriotism”, “benevolence”, “friendship”, “honesty”, “self-control”, and “patience”.
