PREPARATION OF ARTICLES
Four separate files should be uploaded to the system, including title page (including author(s)’ information), cover page (including corresponding author’s information and signature), copyright agreement, and manuscript (not including author information).

COPYRIGHT AND AUTHOR AGREEMENT
The Copyright Notice Text must be filled in with the names and signatures of all authors and uploaded to the system. The contract form can be downloaded from the link and it is acceptable to scan the signed version with a wet signature.

PLAGIARISM REPORT
Before submission of the article, authors are required to receive a similarity report by uploading the article to the iThenticate & Turnitin program. The similarity rate of the manuscript should be below 20%. Manuscript with a similarity rate above 20% are rejected by the Editorial Board. The acceptable limit for the journal is 20% for general similarity and 5% for similarity with a single source. Although the similarity rate is 1%, if the citation and citation are not duly made, plagiarism may still be in question. In this respect, citation and citation rules should be known and carefully applied by the author.

*Contribution to the Academic Field
Authors should explain about the significance of the paper and its specific contributions to the academic field when submitting a paper to the DEPARCH in the cover letter. It should be stated at least three main contributions to the field of the manuscript to be not rejected after the first screening and accepted for the peer review process.

*Conflict of Interest
Authors should declare any potential conflict of interest that may affect the study. If there is no conflict of interest, it should be stated in the cover letter as “No conflict of interest declared by the authors”.

*Financial Disclosure
The authors must clearly indicate where the support is obtained from if there is a sponsorship or financial funding that supports the study. If support is not received, it should be stated in the cover letter as “The author(s) declared that no financial support has received no financial support”.

*Ethics Committee Approval
If an ethics committee approval was required while this article was being produced, it should be stated clearly. A proof document for Ethics Committee Approval must also be uploaded to the journal system. If there is no requirement for ethics committee approval, it must be stated in the cover letter as “Ethics committee approval was not required for this article”.

*Legal Public / Private Permissions
The following statement must be clearly given in the Cover Letter in the research carried out with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group interview, observation, and experimental techniques: “ In this research, the necessary permissions were obtained from the relevant participants (individuals, institutions and organizations) during the survey, in-depth interview, focus group interview, observation or experiment”.

*Authors Contribution
All author(s) individually 1) participated the design process, collecting data and analysing the data examined, 2) participated the writing the draft and critically evaluating the content, 3) approved the final version of the article and took all responsibility for this manuscript. The contribution percentages according to the authors' participation rate in the processes must be declared in the cover letter. Individuals who did not directly participate in these different stages were not considered authors; but thanks to them should be stated.

TITLE PAGE
Author's name, surname, phone number, e-mail address and affiliation (faculty and department, city, country information) and the identity of the corresponding author and brief belongs to title should be stated in the title page. MANUSCRIPT
• The abstract should be in English and Turkish.
• The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
• In the abstract, the definition of the research problem, research question, hypothesis, purpose, scope and method, the tools and materials used, the main findings of the research and its contribution to the literature should be briefly mentioned.
• The manuscript should have no more than 5 keywords, carefully selected, reflecting the content of the paper, and separated by commas. Every word should start with a capital letter and written in italic.
• Full text should be in English.
• Manuscript should be prepared in a single Word document by following the list of abstracts, keywords, article, citation (if any), references.
• The main text should be Century Gothic font with 10 point and the line spacing should be 1.25.
• The abstract should be Century Gothic font 9 point with and the line spacing should be one. A space of 1 line (1.25 line spacing) should be left between paragraphs excluding the abstract.
• The main title of the paper should be written in 14 point and left aligned bold (first letters capitalized).
• The headings should be in hierarchic order. All letters of the primary headings in the manuscript should be capitalized and bold. In secondary titles, only the first letters of the words should be capitalized. Tertiary headings should only capitalize the first letter. Fourth or lower grade headings should be written in italics. The one-line space is not left after secondary and tertiary headings (except for references and acknowledgments). All titles except the main title should be written in Century Gothic 10 font size. All letters of primary headings should be capitalized and bold.
• Titles should not be written as the last line of the page. If two- lines of text cannot be written after the title, the title is also included on the next page. The first line of a paragraph cannot be written as the last line of the page and the last line of the paragraph cannot be written as the first line of the page.
• The size of tables and figures must be legible and of high resolution (300 dpi). Tables should be prepared in editable text format, not as images. Tables and figures should be numbered and given in the text. Each figure, table and picture should be named and numbered in the text as Figure 1, Figure 2, Table 1, Table 2 and so on, regardless of the heading and subheading numbers in the section where it is written.
• Figure and table explanations should be written in Century Gothic 7 font size. Single line spacing should be left before and after the explanation with bullet points in the text.
• The length of the article should not exceed 8000 words (excluding tables, figures, pictures, bibliography) including the abstract.
• Abstracts and full text should not contain any information that would reveal the identity of the authors. Figures and tables should not contain any identity or institution information of the authors.
• In the double-blind peer-review process, in order to maintain anonymity, the surnames of the authors should not be stated in the text when citing author references (Author, year).
• During the revision phase, the author may re-edit the mentioned changes.
• Symbols, abbreviations and rules in the text should comply with the proposed International System of Measurement (SI). Abbreviations should be defined in parentheses after first appearing in the text in accordance with internationally accepted rules.
• In the references in the paper, the author of the article and the publication year should be given in parentheses in accordance with the APA 7 reference style (Author, Year).

TABLES AND FIGURES
• Figures should be placed on the template to fit the 13,5 cm wide columns. If the size of the table or figure exceeds the paragraph width of 13,5 cm, it is placed so that it fits perfectly on both sides. Each figure, and table should be numbered as Figure 1, Figure 2, Table 1, Table 2 etc. in the text, regardless of the heading and subheading numbers in the section where it is written. It should be shown in bold in the text.
• The explanations of tables and figures should be written in Century Gothic font with 7-point size.
• In addition, the figures should be uploaded as a zip file with at least 300 dpi resolution and in jpeg/tiff format.
• For all tables and figures that do not belong to the authors and have been previously published by other sources, permission must be obtained from the people who have the copyright.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Collate acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article before the references and do not, therefore, include them on the title page, as a footnote to the title or otherwise. List here those individuals who provided help during the research (e.g., providing language help, writing assistance, or proofreading the article, etc.). Any information revealing the identity of the author(s) should be avoided until the article is accepted.

Formatting of funding sources
List funding sources in this standard way to facilitate compliance to funder's requirements:

MATH FORMULAE
Math equations should be submitted as editable text, not as images. Present simple formulae in line with normal text where possible and use the solidus (/) instead of a horizontal line for small fractional terms, e.g., X/Y. In principle, variables are to be presented in italics. Equations that should be displayed separately from the text should be numbered consecutively. Equation 1, Equation 2 etc. in the text should be specified.

FOOTNOTES
Footnotes should be used sparingly. Number them consecutively throughout the article. Many word processors build footnotes into the text, and this feature may be used. Should this not be the case, indicate the position of footnotes in the text and present the footnotes themselves separately at the end of the article.

BOOK REVIEWS AND NOTES
A book review should be between 500-1000 words, including the scope of a review of the book, its contribution to knowledge and discussion in the context of architecture, planning and design. Comments should be written in Century Gothic font with 10 point using 1.25 line spacing. The name, institution, and e-mail address of the reviewer should be given. The book cover image must be provided in jpeg. Title, author, source, publisher, date, number of pages, price and ISBN number should be provided as in the example below.

BIOGRAPHY OF AUTHOR(S)
The short biographies of authors not longer than 100 words should be added after the references.

REVISION PHASE
Minor revisions should be uploaded to the system within 15 days at the latest after the reviewer returns. This period is 40 days for major revisions.

DEPARCH Journal of Design, Planning and Aesthetics Research is published twice a year, in Spring and Fall.

ARTICLE SUBMISSION CHARGES
DEPARCH Journal of Design, Planning and Aesthetics Research is a free, open access, peer-reviewed, e-journal, and has no article submission charges.

Peer-reviewed studies are studies that support and implement the scientific method. At this point, it is of great importance that all parties involved in the publication process (authors, readers and researchers, publisher, referees and editors) comply with ethical principles. DEPARCH Journal of Design, Planning and Aesthetics Research adheres to national and international standards in research and publication ethics. It complies with the Press Law, the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works and the Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive. DEPARCH has internalized the International Ethical Publishing Principles published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA). It also undertakes to comply with the Decisions of the Editors' Workshop of Türkiye.

Protection of Participants' Personal Data

DEPARCH requires that all research involving personal or sensitive data or material relating to human participants that is not legally available to the public is subject to formal ethical review.

Handling Allegations of Research Abuse
DEPARCH Journal of Design, Planning and Aesthetics Research conforms to COPE's Ethics Toolkit for a Successful Editorial. DEPARCH editors; will take action to prevent the publication of articles in which plagiarism, citation manipulation, data tampering, data fabrication, and other research misconduct occur. In no event will the editors of DEPARCH knowingly allow such abuse to occur. If the editors of DEPARCH are aware of any allegations of research misconduct related to an article published in their journal, they will follow COPE's guidelines regarding the allegations.

Fundamental errors in published works
If the author detects errors and inaccuracies in the publication of the manuscript, they are responsible to inform the journal editor or publisher to correction of paper. deparch@selcuk.edu.tr

Ethical Violation Notices
When readers notice a major error or mistake in an article published in DEPARCH, or have any complaints about editorial content (plagiarism, duplicate articles, etc.), they can send an e-mail to the deparch@selcuk.edu.tr. Applications are welcomed, as it will provide an opportunity for improvement, and feedback is provided quickly and constructively.

Article correction, article retraction, and expression of concern
In cases the article must be withdrawn or removed after publication, DEPARCH electronic archive preserves all versions of the articles. COPE and ICJME guidelines are considered with regard to the correction, withdrawal, or expression of concern.

Article Withdrawn
The editors of our journal may “withdrawn” the articles in Press (articles that have been accepted for publication but which have not been formally published and will not yet have the complete volume/issue/page information) in violation of our journal publishing ethical guidelines (such as multiple submission, fraudulent claims of authorship, plagiarism, dishonest use of data or the like).

Expression of concern
If there is a possibility of misuse of research or publication by the authors; If there is evidence that the findings are unreliable and that the authors' institutions did not investigate the incident, or if the potential investigation seems unfair or inconclusive, editors should consider issuing a statement of concern.

Publication of Studies Based on Survey and Interview
DEPARCH Journal of Design, Planning and Aesthetics Research follows the advice in guidelines and flowcharts on COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) for publication ethics. In this sense, all studies submitted to the manuscript are expected to comply with the following ethical guidelines of the journal.

If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, authors must clearly identify these in the manuscript.
If the work includes human and animal subjects, ethics committee approval must be obtained from the necessary institutions. The privacy rights of human participants must always be observed.

Legal/Private Permissions
It is also obligatory to obtain legal/special permission in qualitative or quantitative research that incorporates data collecting from the participants by using survey, interview, focus group interview, observation, and experimental techniques. Authors should use private information by obtaining the written permission from these sources.

In studies that require ethics committee permission, information about the permission (name of the committee, date, and number) can be found in the method section, as well as on one of the first/last pages of the article; In case reports, information about signing the informed consent/consent form should be included in the article.

Special Issue Publishing Policy
A special issue can be published in our journal once a year upon the request of the Editorial Board. Articles sent for inclusion in a special issue are first subjected to editorial review. Then the journal is examined for relevance to the manuscript submission guidelines and a similarity scan is performed to prevent plagiarism. After these stages, it is taken into the peer-review process in which the double-blind peer review is used.

Fair play and impartiality
Editors are responsible for evaluating the manuscript in terms of its intellectual content regardless of authors' gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, citizenship, religion, political philosophy, or institutional affiliation. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the editorial content of the journal and for arranging its publication time.

Dealing with Misconduct
The Editorial Board has the authority to withdraw the manuscript if they detect an error in a published work that invalidates the work or important parts of it and contains plagiarism and unethical behaviours. DEPARCH follows the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) to deal with these unethical issues.

DEPARCH Journal of Design, Planning and Aesthetics Research undertakes to apply it to COPE flow charts when faced with allegations of misconduct in the following or similar matters.

• What to do when fabricated data is suspected
• What to do in requests for change of authorship
• What to do when an undisclosed conflict of interest is suspected
• What to do when unfair or gift authorship is suspected

Conflict of interest
The author should disclose any potential conflict of interest that may affect the results of manuscript that can be financial as employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert witness, patent applications / registrations and grants of other funding and personal or professional relationships and connections.
The authors should disclose where the support is obtained from if there is a sponsorship or financial funding that supports the study. If support is not received, it must be stated in the cover letter as “The author(s) declared that no financial support has been received no financial support”.

Complaint Procedure
This procedure applies to complaints about content, procedures or policies that are the responsibility of DEPARCH. Complaints can provide an opportunity and incentive for improvement, and we aim to respond quickly, courteously and constructively.

The complaint must relate to the content, procedures or policies that are the responsibility of DEPARCH or our editorial staff. Complaints should be emailed directly to deparch@selcuk.edu.tr and will be treated confidentially. The editor immediately responds to complaints. The editor follows the procedure outlined in the COPE flowchart regarding complaints.
Complaints are reviewed by the relevant member of the editorial team and if they cannot be resolved, the following processes are followed:
• If this initial response is deemed inadequate, the complainant may request that their complaint be forwarded to a more senior member of the journal.
• Complaints can be forwarded to the editor-in-chief if the complainant is not satisfied.
• A full response will be given within two weeks if possible.
COPE publishes a code of practice for editors of scientific journals. This will make it easier to resolve disputes with editors, journals, and publishers, but only after the journal's own complaints procedures are exhausted.

Appeal Process
We welcome serious objections to reviews by editors and reviewers. If you think we rejected your article because we misunderstood the scientific content, please send an objection message to our editorial team at deparch@selcuk.edu.tr. Do not try to submit a revised version of your article at this stage. If, after reading your objection letter, we understand that your objection is justified, we may invite you to submit a revised version of your article. Thus, your work is sent back to the external referee process. Please include as much detail as possible in the appeal letter. Finally, we can only consider one objection per article, so please take the time and effort to write the letter in detail to make your objection clear - you stand a chance, so use it well. We have found that prolonged negotiation over rejected articles is often unsatisfactory for both authors and editors, so we do not process multiple appeals for the same work.

Principles of Research Ethics
DEPARCH Journal of Design, Planning and Aesthetics Research maintains the highest standards in research ethics and adopts the international research ethics principles defined below. The compliance of the articles with the ethical rules is the responsibility of the authors.

Reporting standards
The data in the manuscript must be presented in an appropriate way and contain sufficient detail to provide the others can replicate it.

Responsibility for opinions in the manuscript, compliance with scientific and ethical rules belongs to the authors. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statement constitutes unethical behavior and will be unacceptable.

Originality and Acknowledgement of Sources
The authors are responsible to submit an original work and using another’s work/words a in an inappropriate way. The author should use copyrighted materials (for example, tables, figures, or large quotations) used in their manuscript with due permission and thanks.
The publications that are effective in the formation of the original version of the manuscript should be cited as a reference.
Plagiarism in all forms is unethical publication behaviour that is unacceptable.

Multiple, duplicate, redundant or concurrent submission/publication
The authors are responsible for not submitting the same manuscripts describing essentially the same research to more than one journal or primary publication as it is an unethical publishing behaviour and unacceptable. Authors should submit manuscripts that has not been published in any language before in its entirety or in part and is not currently under submission or under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Authorship of the manuscript
All authors should have a direct academic and scientific contribution to the submitted manuscript to the journal. All author(s) named in a manuscript should comply with the following criteria: 1) have participated in the design process, data collection and analysis/interpretation of the data reviewed; and 2) participated in the drafting and critical evaluation of the content; and 3) took the responsibility of checking the accuracy of the study and approving the final version. Author(s) are responsible for specifying their contribution percentages in the cover letter according to their participation rates in the processes.

Others who have not directly participated in these different stages but have participated in substantive aspect of manuscript should not be recognised as authors; however, their contributions should be mentioned in the “acknowledgments” section with permission.

The corresponding author is responsible for confirming that all authors who contributed to the manuscript by complying with the criteria stated above are included in the list and approved the final version.

Fundamental errors in published works
If the author detects errors and inaccuracies in the publication of the manuscript, they are responsible to inform the journal editor or publisher to correction of the paper.
The author(s) is responsible for preparing the study according to the journal writing rules.

Wage Policy The publication of articles and the execution of article processes in DEPARCH Journal of Design, Planning and Aesthetics Research are free of charge. No processing fee or submission fee is charged for articles submitted to the journal or accepted for publication. DEPARCH Journal of Design, Planning and Aesthetics Research also does not accept sponsorship and advertisement due to its publication policies. All expenses of DEPARCH are covered by Selcuk University Rectorate.
